Samsung's new smart ring is said to be thinner, smarter, and (probably) more obsessed with your sleep than you are. Will the Galaxy Ring 2 become the new crown jewel of wearable technology?

When Samsung launched in 2024 Galaxy Ring, it felt like we were stepping into a future – one where we no longer needed our wrists to track every heartbeat, every breath and (thank goodness) every piece of cake after dinner. The Galaxy Ring became a sleek and discreet alternative to smartwatches that measured the wearer’s health with the precision of a personal trainer without the fuss – and without the monthly subscription. Now, a sequel is in the works. The second generation – Galaxy Ring 2 – is supposed to be everything its predecessor was and more: thinner, smarter, and more integrated with Samsung's digital universe. Or, to paraphrase the classic: a ring that won't just monitor your sleep, it'll also dim it.

Thinner, more durable and with more sizes – like jeans from the 80s

Although the ring won't be radically different physically (since hands haven't evolved since last fall), the Galaxy Ring 2 promises to be a more comfortable, thinner design. There are whispers that Samsung will incorporate solid-state battery, which is not just a cool buzzword for futuristic trade shows, but a serious upgrade: longer battery life (over 7 days!) and fewer charges. If your charging cable has ever gotten on your nerves, this is good news.

It will also be available 11 sizes, including larger numbers for those with the fingers of a concert pianist or a former metalhead. And yes, the casing remains made of titanium – because, let's face it, aluminum is so last year.

Sensors for every feeling and AI that knows when you're feeling anxious

The Galaxy Ring 2 won't just measure your heart rate - almost every fitness bracelet from the supermarket sale can do that. No, Samsung is aiming higher. Or deeper. The inside of the ring is said to be redesigned, with sensors placed closer to the arteryto make data capture even more accurate. This will make it even easier for AI to recognize when a stressful Zoom conference is putting you on edge.

Among the interesting features is also mentioned the upgraded sensor body temperature, which could detect signs of infections or fertile days. A ring that might warn you about the flu before your doctor? We don't know if this would be medically qualified as a "miracle," but at least as a digital sixth sense, for sure.

AI will tell you when you are “in shape” and when you should go to bed

The first Galaxy Ring already had features like Energy Score, Wellness tips and in-depth sleep analysisThe second generation builds on this with a new metric called “Activity Consistency” – so if you indulge in one heroic 5K run after a month of laziness, the AI will lovingly remind you that one outburst doesn't outweigh a whole month of Netflix.

The new version may also offer Sleep Coaching – which means that it won't just rate you with a "Sleep Score" after a sleepless night, but will (at best) gently advise you to get to bed before midnight.

Smart home connection: your ring will turn off the lights, and you'll just lie down

Samsung is betting seriously on “ambient health”Galaxy Ring 2 will be able to connect to the platform SmartThings Dim the lights, turn off the TV, and adjust the temperature when you fall asleep. Because – nothing says “goodnight” like a robot butler turning off everything after you. One less reason to get out of bed.

And what does the wallet say?

The price will remain the same. around $399 (approx. €370–380), which means there will be no shock when purchasing – if you have already considered a smart ring, this is still in the same range as the competition Our RingKey difference: Samsung doesn't require a monthly subscription, which means you pay once and that's it. No hidden costs, no "premium" analyses - everything is included. Which is almost revolutionary these days.

When will it be available?

Nothing officially confirmed yet, but everything seems to indicate that we will have Galaxy Ring 2 seen in the second half of 2025, most likely in August. If Samsung follows the rhythm of the first generation, there will be a few teasers, then a big presentation, and then (some lucky people) will be testing the ring before the fall.

Conclusion: A ring that measures more than just your heart rate

The Galaxy Ring 2 is everything you could want from a smart ring – stylish, technologically advanced, and incredibly well-integrated with the ecosystem, if you’re part of the Samsung universe. If you’re not – well, then maybe it’s time to reconsider.

It seems that Samsung is moving from an experiment to a serious battle for dominance in the smart ring category. With the Galaxy Ring 2, it's not just catching up, it's also challenging Our Ring – and with such confidence that he almost dares to say: “One ring to rule them all.”

Now we are waiting for the official presentation. Maybe Samsung will surprise us at the end of the summer. And maybe the ring will one day be able to tell if your crush is really "in the mood" - but that's a whole other story.
