In the heart of the Arabian dunes, Genesis has just dropped a bombshell. Meet the X Skorpio Concept – the brand's first extreme SUV that's not just here to visit, but to conquer the Rub' al Khali. Forget about refinement, it's all about adrenaline.
If you thought Genesis was just a brand for quiet cruising around city streets, I have to disappoint you – or impress you. In the Liwa Oasis, they revealed Genesis X Scorpio Concept, which is anything but gentle. Inspiration? The Black Scorpion. And it shows. The car doesn't just have a body; it has armor. The segmented panels, reminiscent of the exoskeleton of this desert beast, aren't just there for decoration. They allow for quick repairs in the most brutal conditions. Because, let's be honest, when you're jumping over dunes with a thousand horses, you're bound to break something.

Under the hood (or somewhere in that tubular frame) roars a V8 engine that churns out an incredible 820 kW (1,115 PS / 1,100 hp) and 1,153 Nm (850 lb-ft) of torque. These are not figures for transporting children to kindergarten, unless that kindergarten is on top of Mount Everest. To get that power to the ground, there are 18-inch beadlock wheels with custom-made 40-inch (101.6 cm) off-road tires. If that sounds excessive to you, you've probably never tried to "surf" through sand at speeds that would scare the average person.
Genesis X Skorpio Concept Interior: Luxury in the Sandstorm
Stepping inside the Genesis X Skorpio Concept is a surprise. While the usual desert racers look like the inside of a washing machine, Genesis has kept its soul here. In fact, this is probably the only car in the world where you can experience 4G acceleration while sitting on the most prestigious raw leather and Alcantara.

Innovation is everywhere. The instrument panel is built right into the steering wheel, so the driver doesn't have to take his eyes off the dune he's about to catapult into orbit. Even crazier? A sliding screen that adjusts depending on whether you're driving alone or with a co-driver-navigator. The entire interior is a deep black with blue hues that shine in the sun like the back of a real scorpion. Laser-cut Alcantara and stitching that mimics scorpion legs? Yes, please.
Engineering for the apocalypse
Luc Donckerwolke, the brand's creative father, says the components were taken directly from endurance off-road racing. The tubular frame, integrated roll cage and four-point harness are there for a reason. The car is built from a combination of fiberglass, carbon fiber and Kevlar. It's light, strong and probably indestructible.

Brembo Motorsport brakes ensure safe stopping, which is smart, as the X Skorpio Concept is not afraid of jumps. Its aerodynamics are optimized so that it remains stable even when it is not in contact with the ground. Which, let's face it, is a favorite hobby of wealthy sheikhs in the United Arab Emirates.
“X Scorpio explores another face of the Genesis brand and underlines our intention to bring emotion and adrenaline to completely new segments,” says Donckerwolke. And we believe him.
Technical data in brief:

- Tires: 40-inch (101.6 cm) on 18-inch rims

Below the Line_ A Dream That Should Become Reality
Genesis X Scorpio Concept is more than just a design exercise. It is a statement of power. It is proof that the Korean giant is not afraid of anyone – neither the desert nor established European brands. Although it is currently just a dream (with no confirmed series production), the direction is clear: Genesis wants to be “cool”. And with this model, it has succeeded in doing so more than any other in the last decade.

Price? If you could afford it, you'd probably need your own oil well. But for the feeling of taming the Rub' al Khali with a thousand horses, every euro (or dirham) is worth your money. This is a car for those who don't follow the path, but create it - preferably with a considerable cloud of dust in their wake.
