The Facebook platform "Get Digital" includes a comprehensive curriculum for digital education for parents, teachers and teenagers. The resources and contents of the lectures are based on the materials of recognized American universities - Harvard University and the University of California, Berkeley. Simbioza and Digital Innovation Hub Slovenia participated in the release of the Slovenian version.

Facebook is together with Symbiosis and Digital Innovation Hub Slovenia released the Slovenian version of the program "Get Digital", which gives schools and families in Slovenia access to tools for creating safe, healthy and encouraging digital communities. One of the measures to prevent the spread of Covid-19 is distance learning, as a result of which young people spend more and more time on mobile phones and computers. Therefore, the contents of the program "Get Digital", which teachers and students can access at home and at school, is extremely important.

Get Digital for responsible digital citizens

Lectures and materials offered by the program "Get Digital", are research-based and help young people develop the skills they need to become responsible and confident digital citizens. The contents are grouped into five sections, namely "Basics", "Feeling", "Inclusion", "Empowerment" and "Opportunities", with the help of which young people build fundamental competences and skills for safe navigation in the digital world.

Each batch comprises pre-prepared lesson plans, which teachers can use when explaining certain material. Parents will be provided with ideas on how to talk to their children about digital security and what vocabulary they should use. Teens will surely love the fun exercises that will teach them how to surf the web and how to create online communities.

"Since we have moved our lives online more than ever due to the pandemic, it is imperative that we provide the youngest users with the knowledge and skills to use the Internet to their best advantage, while at the same time being able to recognize and avoid the dangers that lurk on the Web. We've worked with some of the best experts and organizations around the world to develop resources that are not only educational but also entertaining. I strongly hope that the program will have a positive impact on the safety and quality of time that young people spend online," explains Eva Ivančič, director of CEE public policy, Facebook
