Forget about expensive chemical sprays that corrode your nostrils and your health. There are three genius recipes hidden in your kitchen that will free your home from buzzing, scratching and unwanted flying guests – quickly, effectively and fragrantly. Say: "Stop, mosquitoes!"

If you have ever a mosquito ruined your sleep, a cockroach caused a mini heart attack or a fly ruined your lunch, then read on. This time we reveal three homemade tricks that work better than many insecticides from the store. No poisons, no worries – just natural ingredients and a little cooking magic. Welcome to the world of eco-pest control!

1. Mosquito traps: sugar, yeast and a plastic bottle

What do you need?

  • 1 cup of water
  • 5 spoons of sugar
  • 1 tablespoon yeast
  • empty 2-liter bottle

Melt the sugar in the water over low heat. When the mixture has cooled, add the yeast (do not stir – let it do its thing). Cut the top off the plastic bottle and turn it upside down – this will create a funnel that you insert into the bottom of the bottle. Pour the sweet-yeast mixture into it, seal the top with tape and cover with cardboard or a piece of cloth. Place it in a place where mosquitoes like to party – in the corner of a room, on a balcony or near potted plants. And be careful – this is not a trap, this is a VIP lounge for mosquitoes with a one-way ticket.

2. Bay leaf and clove spray: a fragrant weapon against cockroaches

Ingredients needed:

  • 1 cup of water
  • 15 bay leaves
  • 20 cloves

Boil the herbs for 10 minutes – your kitchen will turn into a mini wellness center. Strain the mixture and pour it into a spray bottle. Spray corners, kitchen, bathroom, balcony doors – wherever you see insects. Bay leaves and cloves are deadly attractive to cockroaches, but effective as a repellent. The insects run away, and you enjoy aromatherapy.
