After more than twenty years of the original Gladiator, will there be a sequel? Here's everything we know about the release of the upcoming movie Gladiator 2.

Gladiator is a historical film directed by Ridley Scott that depicts the life of the Roman general Maximus Decimus Meridius, who ended up in to slavery under the sadistic and the envious ruler Commodus – played by the excellent Joaquin Phoenix. Fans and critics adored the film, as it received as many as 12 Oscar nominations. The golden statuette was awarded in the category for the best film and for the best male role, which was won by Russell Crowe.

Despite the ups and downs and the many changing story concepts, it seems yes plans for the second part of the film are still underway. Not much has been confirmed about what the sequel will be, as the story goes through many creative teams.

The problem arises when writing the script, because in the first part, the main protagonists of the film (Commodus, Maximus) were popular, but they died in the end. This is exactly one of the reasons for writing a screenplay.

The original plan was for the main cast to return - no one knows how, perhaps in some reincarnated form. Another plan is for the story to follow the emperor's nephew Lucius, who witnessed all the events and is now following Maximus' legacy.

If the film will be released, we are of course looking forward to it, but we believe that it will be difficult to surpass the original film. Otherwise, let's wait for the script and the cast, we might be surprised.
