In fact, it didn't completely disappear; Audi's strategy is now simple: the even numbers are reserved for electric vehicles, and the odd numbers continue to smell of gasoline.

The new Audi A5 brings fresh looks and updated technology, along with two powerful ICE engines that promise to satisfy drivers regardless of their budget. The base model has a 2.0-liter turbo gasoline engine with 268 horsepower (200 kW) and four-wheel drive via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Variable turbine geometry increases engine efficiency, although fuel consumption figures are not yet available.

For those who want more, there is a model S5 with a 3.0-liter V6 turbo gasoline engine that produces 362 horsepower (270 kW). This model also has four-wheel drive via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, a first for the S5. The Quattro system is upgraded with a sports differential and a torque distribution function. Of course, the usual more boring engines will also be available in the EU. But let's talk only about the best in this boat.

Audi has made many improvements to the suspension and steering in the new A5 and S5, including adaptive dampers that allow the ride to be adjusted to the driver's preferences.

In the US, the A5 will only be available as a sedan, while Avant wagons will also be available in other markets. It is the first model on Audi's new Premium Platform Combustion platform, which supports both front- and all-wheel drive, as well as conventional and hybrid powertrains.

Design and Technology

The Audi A5 is larger but less rounded than its predecessor A5 Sportback. The front part is decorated with a wide grille and huge air vents, while the rear part is decorated with real exhaust pipes. The digital infotainment system in the new A5 consists of a slim OLED MMI screen and an 11.9-inch virtual cockpit and a 14.5-inch MMI touchscreen. An optional 10.9-inch screen is also available for the front passengers. In addition, there is a configurable head-up display, which for the first time allows drivers to control the vehicle and the functions of the infotainment system.

Also new is the possibility of a passenger screen, which allows passengers to control navigation or watch content while driving. The Bang & Olufsen sound system with speakers in the headrests and two-zone sound allows passengers to listen to music or watch movies independently of the driver, who can make a call in the meantime.
