The Pixel Buds Pro 2 are Google's latest wireless earbuds that bring premium sound, improved active noise cancellation and a brand new AI experience through the Gemini product. They are smaller, lighter and more comfortable than the previous generation, and at the same time they are armed with a powerful Tensor A1 chip, which enables extremely fast sound processing and noise control and suppression. Here are all the details on how Google wants to redefine the wireless headphone market.
Google hit the bullseye again with new ones Pixel Buds Pro 2. If you thought that the first generation of these wireless buds was top-notch, get ready - the Pixel Buds Pro 2, which are not only an evolution, but practically a completely new product. They're smaller, lighter and more comfortable, and equipped with Gemini's advanced artificial intelligence—it seems we'll all be talking to soon earplugs. Until then, let's see what this technological miracle has to offer, which we tested this time in our editorial office.
Google says they are developing new ones Pixel Buds Pro 2 analyzed more than 45 million ear impressions (no, seriously). Why? To achieve a perfect fit and comfort. The headphones are now 20 % smaller and 24 % lighter than the previous model, which may sound like a little, but those who have already tried long-term listening with heavier plugs will immediately notice the difference. I also have to admit that I really like their design.
Besides, it is Google presented a new "twist to adjust” eartip stabilization, where you simply twist the eartips to achieve optimal stability or ensure they stay in your ears while you exercise, or loosen them for long-term wear at home or in the office. Although it sounds like a simple trick, it's a very practical solution for those who don't like plugs constantly falling out (we've all been there).
Personally, I have to admit that among the multitude of products I've tried lately, they're just right for me Pixel Buds Pro 2 best fit. This means that for the first time in my life I dared to ride my bike down a mountain track without thinking I would lose my cleats. Namely, with other manufacturers, I always put the headphones in my pocket before doing this for safety reasons.
Leaving aside design, comfort and functionality - Pixel Buds Pro 2 they also boast a completely renovated sound system. Each plug has its own 11mm driver, but the real star of this show is the new chip Google Tensor A1. This chip enables ultra-low latency audio processing and adapts to the environment up to 3 million times per second (yes, you read that right). Active noise reduction (ANC) is now twice as powerful as the previous model, which means you'll be able to enjoy complete silence even if you're sitting in the noisiest cafe or on an airplane. I was completely blown away by the ANC as it is one of the best I have ever tried. The combination of the new chip and improved audio hardware ensures that your music will sound clear and uninterrupted, regardless of the noise around you. ANC works so well that you can listen to a podcast while you're at work and not hear your co-worker telling you what happened to him over the weekend. ANC works absolutely brutally, or at least 2x better than its predecessors.
To be honest, I have mixed feelings about the sound of the Pixel Buds Pro 2. They are not bad, but they are mixed. Now, the bass is better this time and great for those who listen to energetic tracks. I don't see so many problems with the latter. I didn't miss anything myself. But when it comes to more subtle music, everything sounded a little too "compressed" to me and without the depth that I expect from premium headphones. Such a very typical example is my standard piece for the headphone test – Disturbed – The Sound Of Silence, which left me cold. Really good headphones (the best) give me goosebumps. I think they're still great for everyday listening, but if you're a true audiophile, you'll probably miss the icing on the cake. Not bad, not bad at all, but not great either. But it is definitely good and for 98 % people what they are looking for and need. The other 2 %s will reach for a small selection of those slightly better earplugs, which, of course, are also more expensive and in certain areas nevertheless worse. Sound is often also a personal preference.
New ones Pixel Buds Pro 2 not only are they smaller and lighter, but they also boast a longer battery life. Google promises up to 12 hours of music playback (without ANC) or 8 hours with it on ANC. My personal experience was that in "ambient sound" mode they stopped working after 4 hours and 7 minutes of cycling. It is true that I listen to personal music and podcasts relatively loudly. But the fact that you can get an extra 1.5 hours of listening time with a 5-minute charge is quite impressive. I have not tested how fast and for how long they charge. But here I take Google at its word. Even though the headphones are smaller, it didn't take away from their durability, which I really appreciate. Oh, and they're IP54 certified for dust and water resistance, so they're also a great choice for sports activities. In the last month, I thoroughly "soaked" them during various training sessions and they did not fail. I believe they won't either. They give a sense of durability, which is one of the qualities I can highlight.
The biggest news Pixel Buds Pro 2 but Gemini artificial intelligence is definitely built in. With this headset, you can interact with AI without using your hands or eyes - completely through sound. Need help with email? Want to create a playlist for your workout? Gemini is here for you. You simply say "Hey Google" and Gemini Assistant starts talking to you. The case works perfectly in English, much worse in Slovenian. But I believe that things will improve with time.
Pixel Buds Pro 2 are available for 230 euros, which places them in the premium segment of wireless headphones. With everything they offer – exceptional sound quality, advanced noise cancellation, artificial intelligence and a perfect fit in your ears – this is a pretty good investment for any tech and music lover.
Although at first glance Pixel Buds Pro 2 they are not as "flashy" as the new Pixel phones, they are definitely a product that can attract attention. Google has shown that it can still innovate in the field of audio technology, and with these headphones it may be setting new standards for the future. At the same time, it strengthens its ecosystem of devices with a quality accessory that is essential. There's only one question left: Are you ready to talk to your headphones?
