Texan Ron Woodroof is an electrician and skilled cowboy known for his partying and carefree lifestyle. When he learns in 1985 that he is infected with the HIV virus, his world is suddenly turned upside down. According to doctors' predictions, he only has 30 days left to live, but Ron does not accept the death sentence and fights the deadly disease.
V fight against an insidious virus finds that treatment in the US is extremely limited, with only a few drugs allowed. He travels to Mexico, where he learns about alternative treatments. Despite opposition from the medical and scientific community, including his concerned doctor, Dr. Eve Saks, begins to smuggle drugs into the United States.

Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto made a real effort and enriched their role with a thorough transformation, which gives the film an even more authentic and personal touch, and they were also awarded with Golden Globes, for which they were celebrated each in their own category.
