Earlier today, Apple presented its new "goodies", with which it conquers the world of technology enthusiasts. Among them the new Apple Watch 6, as well as the Apple Watch SE, which we present in more detail in this article!
As part of the presentation Time Files Apple presented the latest versions of the popular Apple Watch devices. Unlike the previous ones, there are as many as two models available in the 2020/2021 season - the more expensive ones Apple Watch Series 6 and cheaper Apple Watch SE.
For all fans of Apple products, there are no major surprises this year. The watch is just an improved version of the previous generation with minor improvements to the health sensor and processor. Let's see in detail!
Apple Watch Series 6 - Design and Colors
The Apple Watch Series 6 is very similar in design to the Apple Watch Series 5. It looks like the case itself hasn't changed. The easiest to recognize are the new colors. Apple Watch Series 6 is available in as many as four colors and three different materials. So, in a way, it is the most individualized "Watch" ever.
The aluminum versions are available in red and blue (Product Red and Blue), while the stainless steel version is available in gold and dark gray.
Screen Apple Watch Series 6 is available in two diagonals – 40 mm and 44 mm. Both versions use OLED screen touch screen and have a more intense “Always On” screen, which is said to be Apple two and a half times brighter than the previous generation. Everything is, of course, thanks to a more efficient processor that consumes less energy.
S6 processor
Apple Watch Series 6 it also runs a new one S6 processor, which according to Apple for 20 percent over capacityt fifth generation watch. The processor design is based on the iPhone's A13 Bionic chipset, optimized only for the Apple Watch.
Health properties
Apple Watch Series 6 it has a new sensor that measures blood oxygen levels. By using the app Blood Oxygen, which allows the user to take measurements on the fly or monitor the level even while sleeping.
Apple Fitness +
Apple is launching a new subscription service for virtual fitness classes called Fitness+. The service is integrated with devices iPhone, iPad and Apple TV, however Apple it says it's built for Apple Watch users. Namely, the watch monitors the quality of the exercise performed with its entire "set" of sensors and thus encourages the user to progress and perform the exercises correctly. Access to the service will cost 9.99 US dollars per month or 79.99 US dollars per year, and with the purchase of a new Apple Watch you will get the service for free for three months. It is also available as part of "Apple's" new universal subscription Apple One. Apple says Fitness Plus will be available in all countries before the end of the year!
Battery
Series 6 has the same battery capacity as the last generation (Apple Watch Series 5), lasts around 18 hours – the result of continuous use of the watch with active functions such as active heart rate and blood oxygen level monitoring. Only charging from 0 to 100 percent was shortened to 2 and a half hours. It seems that the battery is still the "Achilles" heel of an otherwise excellent product. But Apple somehow believes that watch users always charge the latter overnight, without exception.
The “family” Apple Watch
It's a new family setting child mode, which allows parents to synchronize the clock Apple Watch, which you give to the child, with yours iPhone. Family Setup works on all of them LTE Apple Watches, from series 4 onwards. The software has features such as blocking usage for a certain period of time, controlling available apps and location verification.
New watch faces - Watch OS6
New ones Apple Watch it comes with the new WatchOS, which means it also has some new watch faces. It is not yet known how many "faces" will work only on the latest version of the watch, but we are absolutely sure that there will be at least a few "special ones" with which Apple will try to attract customers who want the exclusivity of the new series. Above all, these will be dials with health functions, which seem to be more and more important.
The new Apple Watch SE
A very important part of this year's presentation of new watches includes Apple Watch SE, the new "budget" Apple Watch, which is equipped with aluminum housing and features of the latest generation hardware, i.e. Series 5. More specifically, it uses the S5 processor and the Series 4 screen, which does not have the Always On Display function. Apple Watch SE has versions with 40 and 44 millimeters, it's available in gray, silver and gold, and the entry-level model will cost US$279. Apple advertises it as a watch for "elderly family members" and "children", but we sincerely believe that the device will find a large number of fans among customers who want to save a little.
Solo Loop – comfortable strap
The last very important innovation in the 6 series is the new straps. Although the standard edition, which we will probably get in Slovenia, comes with a silicone strap with a clip, those who want a little more will be able to purchase the new Solo Loop strap. It is a flexible silicone bracelet without a clasp. The Solo Loop is available in several colors and two models. These are completely silicone and "knitted" with the same functionality.
Availability - from September 18
Apple Watch Series 6 and Apple Watch SE will be available in the US starting September 18th. But we believe that they will arrive in Slovenia by the end of September.
Apple Watch 6 is definitely an upgrade compared to the previous generation, but still only a "facelift" that does not force existing Series 5 users to switch immediately. Also because we think that in 2021 the watch will undergo a considerable "redesign" in accordance with Apple's new "design" guidelines. Still a good buy!
