At HOFER, within the framework of the Today for Tomorrow initiative, the Friends of Animals project is being implemented for the fourth year, dedicated to raising awareness of the importance of proper care for animals. During the time between World Cat Day and World Dog Day, selected shelters were given blankets sewn from used HOFER work clothes, thus emphasizing the sustainable aspect of the project.
This time they are 12 shelters across Slovenia donated approx 1200 blankets. They recycled 6 pallets of used work clothes and turned them into blankets.
Blankets were also distributed in Horjul shelter. At the handover, the shelter was visited by the dog Vicky, the ambassador of the project, who has already found a new home for many of her friends in the past. "There are currently over 15 dog and approximately 60 cat residents in our shelter. We were very happy with the blankets, as they will allow our residents to feel safe in the shelter. They also allow us to offer animals emergency veterinary care upon collection. As our resources are limited, any help is welcome. Of course, we hope that with the help of this nice gesture, we will soon be able to provide them with a new and caring home," Jurij, the animal caretaker at the Horjul shelter, told us. At the same time, he emphasized that you every animal, regardless of the circumstances from which it comes, breed or appearance, deserves human respect. "Friends of animals are those people who show care, responsibility and respect through their actions."
