This is the recipe for a summer homemade radler!
We would like to mix it up domestic radler, but you don't know how? Radler is an increasingly popular summer drink, and it's not hard to guess why. The refreshing combination of light lager beer mixed with lemonade or another type of fruit juice is perfect for the summer heat. Radler was actually 'discovered' in the 20s of the 20th century by Franz Kugler, the owner of a pub in the small town of Deisenhofen near Munich. At least if Bavarian tradition is to be believed.
Legend has it that one sunny day, a large group of cyclists flocked to Kugler's inn after a long bike ride. Thirsty and tired, they ordered beer, but Kugler ran into a problem - the supply of beer was running out. To solve the situation, the ingenious innkeeper decided to dilute the beer with sparkling lemonade, which he had in abundance. He called the drink "radler", which means cyclist in German. The cyclists liked the drink after a long ride so much that they started ordering it elsewhere. It is thanks to this that the radler has become so popular also for sports activities.
There are several other reasons for this. Radler is a light, low-calorie drink with less alcohol compared to regular beer. The mixture of beer and lemonade provides refreshment, while vitamins and minerals help to recover faster after recreation. Carbonated juice provides hydration, and the refreshing citrus taste additionally boosts energy and reduces the feeling of fatigue.
