In the coming months, a new hotel named Valkane will be built in Pula, which will be a true architectural and accommodation marvel.
The design of the hotel is signed by one of the most renowned Croatian hotels of architectural offices 3LHD, who is also known to many for the creation of the Grand Park Hotel in Rovinj. The new hotel in Pula will also be a true architectural marvel. The five-star hotel will be in perfect harmony with the surroundings, and will be located right next to the sea coast. The location of the hotel is located on the site of a former quarry, east of the city bath. Although the location presents a great challenge, the architects have found an interesting solution in which the new building completely immerses itself in the surrounding greenery and restores the design value of the entire space. With the very vision of the hotel, the owners and creators want to place Pula among the most visited luxury destinations on the Croatian coast.
The project is designed with volume and context in mind
With the very shape of the facade, the architects remember what once stood on this site - a quarry. The broken facade is reminiscent of the levels of the former quarry, and the greenery on the facade creates new green areas in the urban area. At the same time, greenery is connected to the surrounding nature. The hotel consists of seven floors, in which the architects placed as many as 180 rooms. For this purpose, an underground garage with 183 parking spaces will be created under the hotel.
"When creating the concept, we were inspired by the historical context of the location and the natural surroundings, including the forest, rocks and coast. Modern architecture maximally connects and integrates with the environment, thus showing great respect for the surroundings. From something that was originally just a big and hard-to-reach hole, we created something that emphasizes the emotional and aesthetic value of the location itself. The project is designed with volume and context in mind, while at the same time respecting the environment and leaving the park publicly accessible," said Silvije Novak from 3LHD about the design vision itself.
