It often happens that the dishes on the menu that appear to be a healthy and balanced choice are actually a real trap for all of us who like to eat healthy. So what to choose at Sunday brunch?
Although it's only Tuesday, many people's minds are already drifting towards the weekend. And Sunday brunches they are the best thing, because this is the time when we finally take time for ourselves and our friends and good food, which also satisfies the hunger of those who had too many cocktails the night before. However, since meals that seem healthy often actually contain more than a staggering 1,000 calories, avoiding a bowl of crusty bread isn't all we need to be mindful of when choosing our meal.
It is certainly clear to all of us that butter, white bread and fatty dressings are not the best choice. But then what to order?
Let's treat ourselves to:
1. egg white omelette with vegetables and mozzarella. Instead of a fatty side dish, such as fried potatoes, choose whole grain bread, salad or fruit salad.
2. salad with chicken. Instead of a thick white sauce, choose a non-spicy version and ask for aromatic balsamic vinegar.
3. boiled rice and grilled chicken breast. Let's skip the dip again and prefer a large salad from the salad bar as a side dish.
4. If the restaurant offers breakfast, let's have a healthy one oatmeal with fresh fruit, which contains much less sugar than dried fruit.
Let's avoid:
1. pancakes. Even if they are whole grain in nature and therefore sound healthier, pancakes are a high-calorie bomb. Drizzled with various syrups and decorated with piles of cream are definitely not the healthiest choice.
2. processed meat. Sausages, even turkey sausages, are full of unhealthy salt and usually "cooked" in oil. Let's not forget that only the worst cuts of meat are used to make such products.
3. muffins, cakes and other cakes. If you have a sweet tooth, choose a healthy cake or ice cream that does not contain lactose and is made from fresh fruit or rice milk.
4. Natural orange juice, lemonade and refreshing iced green tea will be a more suitable choice than thick juice with cream, hot chocolate and white coffee.
