How to clean a washing machine? We have the answer.

Why and how to clean the washing machine? First of all, even though it only takes care of the cleanliness of your laundry, it does not mean that it is clean in itself. In reality, lint, hair, dirt and other particles from your clothes are constantly accumulating in the drum and filters. Therefore, it is up to us to clean it every now and then, otherwise we can risk an unpleasant smell or even a malfunction.

Many people do not realize that this hard-working machine needs regular cleaning to maintain its efficiency and prevent unpleasant odors. Considering that the average family washes around 300 loads of laundry a year, it's high time to keep it running smoothly.

The importance of cleaning the washing machine

A build-up of residue in your washing machine can create a breeding ground for bacteria and mould, which causes unpleasant odors and can affect the cleanliness of your laundry. Additionally, lingering dirt and detergent residue can compromise the performance of your machine, making it work less efficiently over time. Regular cleaning not only helps maintain a hygienic environment, but also extends the life of your washing machine.

How to clean a washing machine with vinegar?

Cleaning your washing machine doesn't have to be a daunting task. With just a few simple steps, you can keep it running smoothly and smelling great.

Ingridients:

  • Spray bottle
  • White vinegar
  • Microfiber towel or cloth

Instructions:

  • Prepare the cleaning solution. Mix a 50-50 solution of white vinegar and water in a spray bottle. Due to the acidic properties of vinegar, it is effective in breaking down residues and eliminating odors.
  • Spray the cleaning solution on the interior surfaces of your washing machine, including the drum, seal, door or lid, and detergent compartment.
  • Wipe all surfaces with a damp towel or microfiber cloth to loosen and remove any dirt or residue. Pay attention to crevices and hard-to-reach places where only these can accumulate.
  • Leave the washing machine door or lid open to allow air circulation and thorough drying. This helps prevent moisture build-up that can contribute to mold growth.
