HUAWEI FREEBUDS 3 : “Fake” Airpods that want to be better than the original

We could see that Huawei is a quick learner in recent years with their smartphones. They, hand in hand, represent exceptional technological products that often even manage to set new standards in the smartphone industry. A similar jump, or thumbs up, can also be given to their new smart sports watch Huawei Watch GT without any problems. The latter is an excellent ratio between the value and the obtained technological miracle that we wear on the wrist.

But this time we will focus on their new sports headphones Huawei Freebuds 3. As we can conclude from the name itself, it is the third generation of Huawei headphones, which naturally brings progress. The headphones finally manage to produce a decent sound based on the highlights base. The sound itself is one of the features that can be praised Freebuds 3. But not all that glitters is gold!

DESIGN

If you are a fan Apple products and innovation, you will of course be struck by the typical Chinese plagiarism of design, which is downright funny here. Comparability with Apple AirPods is downright disastrous. Not only designing the exterior of the headphones, but also copying the behavior of the software. This is exactly why we can't write anything nice here. The thing is ridiculous, unbranded and completely naive. This story is also followed by materials that are not something where the product as such could be placed.

The design is remarkably similar to Apple Airpods

The general impression of the headphones is no better than those headphones that you can buy on AliExpress for 10 euros. Unfortunately, here Huawei missed the opportunity to pack an otherwise excellent technology (below) into its own design. But this is where he traditionally sins and inappropriately laughs for years with products that are directly placed in the shoes of the originals.

TEHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

Compared to its predecessors, the Huawei Freebuds 3 headphones are a truly technologically advanced product. They use Bluetooth 5.1 technology, supported by the processor Kirina A1, developed specifically for Freebuds headphones. It helps in advanced sound processing and with this Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) and thus an improved "sound effect". Wireless is also enabled charging headphones via a wireless charger. We can also praise the USB-C input for charging the headphone storage box. On the other hand, we are extremely disappointed, because the headphones do not meet any waterproof standard, which means that they are only conditionally suitable for sports. The total energy storage for playing music is 20 hours, and with a single charge, the headphones will play music for a good 4 hours. During the test, we noticed that after several days of rest, they discharged themselves, this is ti discharging. Which of course we condemn. Also Huawei app it doesn't work smoothly on other Android devices (eg Samsung) which disables settings ANC or they are disturbed. We could not upgrade the headphones on the Samsung Note 10+ due to a repeatedly reported update error. When connecting to the phone Huawei but the experience was more than excellent. Also The ANC was doing surprisingly well and is one of the best in the price range of such devices.

SOUND QUALITY

The best feature of the headphones Huawei Freebuds 3 it's kind of a sound. This one is based on the bass, which is emphasized to such an extent that the latter can be even one dot too much. Very atypical for this type of device. The sound is also loud enough and better than most tested and comparable devices. As for the sound, it is even very comparable to the "original", which is otherwise not known as the best product for sound enthusiasts, audiophiles. However, this is a product that has been progressing nicely in recent years. Of course, this can also be written for Freebuds 3.

The sound is solid for the product category.

Among those tested, they are therefore the only ones that could be recommended even to those who are a little more sensitive to sound quality. This is also why, given the known facts, they deserve the highest possible rating here.

QUALITY - PRICE RATIO

"Are they kidding?" is the first thing that comes to mind when looking at the price! Basic set price on the Slovenian market for headphones Freebuds 3 was 239.99 euros. This is a price that is higher than even the Apple Airpods2 headphones with a charging case (there is also a more expensive version of the Airpods 2). The latter cost 189 euros. Fortunately, Huawei soon realized their mistake and ironically reduced them to the same price as the original (Read: Apple Airpods 2). So you will be able to buy Freebuds headphones for the same price as the original Apple Airpods2. If we're being picky, the price is actually 99 cents higher than the original. Which is slightly cheeky. As is the blatant plagiarism of a design language that is completely unnecessary.
Price-performance: 5/10

OVERALL SCORE: Huawei Freebuds 3 = 7.0

Attractive packaging hides an interesting product.
Attractive packaging hides an interesting product.

Headphones Huawei Freebuds 3 could be one of the better products. But they are at Huawei unfortunately decided otherwise. They chose the path of imitating design language and placed themselves in the shadow of true innovators. In doing so, of course, they made the most stupid mistakes. The sound is excellent, but what if the headset doesn't connect well with other Android smartphones. Here, Huawei shows a tendency to close into its own ecosystem. In the past, we have reprimanded similar moves by the manufacturer in accordance with our own standards Huawei's nano SD cards. In the end, they are most confused by two things: headphones are bad for sports activities"they stand” in your ears, and as far as you are prone to sweating, will not survive your "salt water". But what if we are bothered by many other things... This is also why it is difficult to recommend them.
