Huawei Mate Xs: a foldable phone with a huge screen

Huawei Mate Xs foldable smartphone

Huawei has introduced the Mate Xs. With its 20.32 centimeters, it is currently the largest screen, but when folded, it will also find its place in an ordinary pocket.

Let us remind you that he also participated in the folding smartphone competition a year ago Huawei, which presented its own model alongside Samsung's Fold Mate X. In the end, the latter did not see a global release, but remained on sale only in China. Huawei obviously wanted their global version to work like clockwork, so they did last year's model further refined and presented it today. Huawei Mate Xs so it is a new addition to the foldable phone market. What are his trump cards?

Let's start with the appearance. Unlike previous foldable phones, se the screen on the Mate Xs folds outward and not inwards. This raises concerns about the durability of the always-on screen, which, like other screens of this type, is of course plastic. Huawei claims to have found the solution in 4-layer screen design, where the main OLED screen is protected by additional layers from polyamide. Such a building for sure helps cushion the screen in case of impacts, as far as the formation of scratches is concerned, only time will tell.

It also received improvements mechanism to open both screens. This one is now more durable and according to the feeling in the hand, according to the first impressions, it should work very well. To open it, we have to reach for the smaller button under the main cameras, which triggers the opening of the screen.

As with most Huawei phones, they are again this time the camera is a strong trump card. 4 Leica cameras are located on the far left side of the phone and are arranged one below the other. 40 MP main camera uses larger sensor and a different arrangement of subpixels which makes works very well in dark conditions. It is also optically stabilized 8 MP telephoto camera and 16 MP ultra-wide camera. The fourth camera is a depth sensor. Even the rear cameras are used for selfies, which is great.

We must not forget about the specifications. Mate Xs will use the new Kirin 990 in-house processor, which of course supports the new 5G network. In addition, it will be equipped with 8 GB of working memory and 512 GB of space out of the box. The battery is also a peculiar beast, which depending on the size of the screen s 4,500mAh it is not very big, but it will charging up to 50 W filled up lightning fast. Since Huawei (China to be exact) and the US still haven't resolved the disputes, the Mate Xs will also feel it lack of Google services, especially app stores. The Huawei Mate Xs will most likely be sold here as well, and the price will be staggering 2,499 euros.
