Huawei knows how to inspire with its products and listen to what users want. He simply knows how to prepare a product that will satisfy a wide range of users. In the second generation, it retains all the "excellence" of the first generation - and the Watch GT 2 sports smart watch adds a few new features.
With a smart watch Huawei Watch GT (first generation) I did socialized for a good year and it's with me set high standards, when I received products from other manufacturers for testing or inspection. She represented some types of slats, which few have managed to surpass. But many did not even come close to it. Huawei but it is precisely because of it and its sales success that it has become the third largest manufacturer of wearable devices, right after brands Apple and Samsung.
The secret of success Huawei Watch GT is definitely hidden in the excellent universal design and main features – lifetime batteries. The device is powered by Huawei's operating system Lite OS, specially adapted for optimal energy use. The watch has a special chip architecture based on two processors, which ensures a much longer life battery life. Most of the time, the watch works with a processor that maintains minimal basic functions and thus consumes a minimal amount of battery. Users can, with normal usage patterns – i.e. with monitoring of physical activity, recording sleep patterns and heartbeat and receiving notifications - they expect it to be an hour lasted up to two weeks without charging. In practice, this means that you will charge the watch once a week, especially those who will require it to monitor physical activities, where is activated also GPS. But still, this is more than an excellent result compared to direct competitors. Because you will charge the watch practically every two days. A survey conducted at the beginning of this year showed that it is 81 percent of buyers, who decided to buy Huawei Watch GT, it did so precisely because of its incredible battery life.
Second generation: Huawei Watch GT 2
A great recipe should not be changed, that's why Huawei in the new generation of watches Huawei Watch GT he didn't want to complicate things, but instead decided on a thoughtful evolution of an already successful concept. Design-wise, the second generation builds on the design excellence of the first generation. Few people will distinguish one from the other at first glance. The 46 mm model differs only slightly in the design of the edge of the screen, which this time is fused with the frame. In the previous generation, it is slightly raised. The screen is not small - it is 1.39-inch AMOLED with the luminosity of 1000 nits. The essential difference is hidden in the interior and some little sugars that make the watch a bit more useful compared to the first generation.
Huawei Watch GT 2 this time the developers have added something more than 2 GB interior space, dedicated to storing your favorite music, and the possibility of calling from the wrist, if the watch is connected to a blue tooth connection with a smartphone. This often comes in handy when the phone is not at hand - the watch is always on it. It is somewhat updated as well "graphic" interface. The new version can track some sport more than the previous one, but which sport I still miss – for example skiing. The interface changes are not drastic. More cosmetic in nature. An interesting connection with Bluetooth headphones and using the watch as a music player popular music.
By the way, in terms of connectivity options, Huawei Watch GT 2 offers Bluetooth 5.1 and has a built-in GPS. I was a bit disappointed by the lack of support NFC, so you won't be able to pay at contactless cash registers with this smart watch. The watch also cannot connect to Wi-Fi or their own LTE-connections. But this is the price of optimization - even the price. And thus the availability of this watch to the masses. Competing products can quickly be up to 40 percent more expensive than Huawei Watch GT 2, while they offer some more options, a user experience it is not so much better that I would personally choose a much more expensive product.

The clock is on the right side two buttons. The first one selects the application, and the second one is intended to start the selected application, and at the same time it serves as a quick start of the exercise. It is also touch sensitive AMOLED screen. If you slip like that down the screen, you will get instant access to basic and quick settings, do not disturb, find my phone and other system settings. S by sliding up and you will get the latest notifications from various apps that are connected through the notification center that you manage with the Huawei Health app, which also has the ability to manage most system settings. On right edge there is a hidden smaller mono speaker, which is quite loud during calls and listening to music, or is loud enough for basic phone calls. There is a pretty good microphone on the left edge, through which you can easily talk with the interlocutor.
Huawei Watch GT 2 it has a small army of detection and tracking sensors such as gyroscope, accelerometer, optical heart rate monitor, ambient light sensor and sensor air pressure, in connection with him also altimeter, which is surprisingly accurate. The watch also meets the 5ATM standard, which means it can survive up to 50 meters underwater for more than 30 minutes.
It seems to be the biggest "Achilles heel" of the watch Huawei Watch GT 2 own operating system Lite OS, which mostly works well and is logical, but doesn't offer as many options as Apple WatchOS, Google's Wear OS or Samsung's Tizen. Because the platform Huawei Lite OS it doesn't have an app store, does not offer support for applications from other developers. Thus, you cannot "equip" the watch with some popular application that, for example, works in the system Wear OS, because it is simply not developed for Lite OS. It is also not possible to link to some really interesting sports app like it is Terrible. They are only supported Google Fit and MyFitnessPal. You also cannot add other widgets or customize the watch in any way. A watch as such still offers most of what what will become of her expected by the average user. The application that supports its operation – Huawei Health -, but it will clearly and logically and quite precisely show all the possible data covered by the watch. So you'll navigate between your heart rate monitor, stress level, outside temperature, your digital fitness trainer and music.
Perhaps it should be noted that it is also coming the female version of the Huawei Watch GT 2, which I have not yet seen at Slovenian dealers.
