Finding our (new) favorite song can be a gift or a curse. With the Hum to search function, Google will now allow us to find it by humming or singing it. Pretty cool, right?
Love a song you've heard, but unfortunately only remember bits and pieces of it? Don't worry, now comes the help of Google and its new feature Hum to search, which will recognize the song by your singing or you can sing it to him in its entirety.
How do you access the feature? All you have to do is tap on your smartphone microphone icon in the Google search app and pronounce it "What's this song?", but it will be even easier if you tap on the "Search song" icon in the application. Now you can you sing, you sing, you whistle, and Google will try to figure out everything else. “When you type a melody into Google search, our machine learning models convert the sound into a sequence based on the numbers that represent the melody of the song,” explained Krishna Kumar, senior manager for Google Search, in a blog post.
While there is understandable skepticism about this feature's ability to provide a true song title based solely on someone recreating the song by whistling or singing, this tool is a great opportunity for the user to reconnect with the song they thought was that she is long gone.
