The BMW X5 hybrid SUV will have only 3.3 liters of fuel consumption and 313 horses

BMW X5 xDrive40e

BMW honestly rolled up their sleeves because they waited too long with hybrid vehicles. This time, however, in Geneva, we were impressed with the first production car of the BMW brand, which has hybrid technology. They didn't hold back and chose their off-road flagship BMW X5, labeled xDrive40e, for their first venture into the world of crossovers. And once again proved that they can do better than the competition. This is evidenced by the two announced data on the extremely low combined consumption of 3.3 liters and the exceptional stable with 313 horses.

BMW X5 xDrive40e will offer you a total combined power of 230 kW/313 hp, produced by a four-cylinder petrol engine with BMW TwinPower Turbo technology and a synchronous electric motor, and records an interesting combined fuel consumption between 3,4 and 3,3 liters per 100 kilometers and combined consumption of electricity from 15,4 to 15,3 kWh at the same distance. CO2 emissions are between 78 and 77 grams per kilometer, but they sound downright science fiction.

Of course, the Bavarian brand boasts that it is their pet project BMWi, the core brand BMW is already bringing benefits, as only this has enabled the parent brand to acquire knowledge and experience in the field of alternative vehicle drives. That's right BMW X5 inherited a lot of know-how from his "brother" and the BMWi i8 supercar.

From the normal X5, you will distinguish the hybrid by the hidden hatch under which the electric socket is hidden.

Hybrid combinatorics

Energy for electric motor, which is connected to an 8-speed Steptronic transmission, is drawn from a lithium-ion battery. The battery can be charged via a standard household electrical outlet or via BMW i Wallbox or other public charging stations. In order to save space, the high-voltage battery is placed under the bottom of the luggage compartment, where it is also perfectly protected in the event of a collision. The real driving experience is also characterized by versatile and smooth performance. The eDrive button on the center console allows the driver to adjust how the hybrid drive operates. In the basic setting AUTO eDrive the power of the engine is significantly increased during acceleration or during quick reactions with the help of the electric motor, whose maximum torque 250 Nm only this is practically available even when the vehicle is stationary. BMW X5 xDrive40e accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in a pinch 6,8 seconds. Certainly interesting and attractive information, if we take into account the fact that it is basic BMW X5 an extremely large car.

The hybrid X5 will also be an extremely fast representative of sports off-road vehicles.

Driving mode MAX eDrive, which enables BMW X5 xDrive40e is that it is driven exclusively by electricity. Thus, with a fully charged battery, the vehicle has a range 31 kilometers in exclusively electric driving mode with limited to a maximum speed of 120 km/h. The SAVE Battery mode can also be activated by pressing a button and causes the high-voltage battery to remain charged, or when the capacity is low, it allows the energy to accumulate again and thus slowly charge the battery. In this way, electricity can be intentionally saved for exclusive use electric drive in city centers.

BMW X5 with label xDrive40e will make otherwise environmentally unfriendly SUVs very, very ... green. And that's beyond great.
