A GOOD HALF HOUR'S WALK TO JOTA AND RIČET
For the people of Ljubljana, Šmarna gora is a place for an afternoon or Sunday excursion, it can be said that it is almost a must-see point that you must visit at least once in your life. Some people are particularly attached to this hill, as they treat themselves to a brisk walk to the 669 meter high peak every day. There are many ways to get to Šmarna gora, but the easiest way is to cross the bridge over the Sava in Tacno and park in the large, well-maintained parking lot across the street. Go past the Grad inn and then just uphill. It is a good half hour's walk to the top, but slower people and children can do it in an hour. At the top, you will be rewarded with a wonderful view of Ljubljana, the Kamniška Alps, and even Triglav can be seen in good weather... Since such a walk makes people tired, we can treat ourselves to a longer stop at the Ledinek Inn right at the top. It is worth trying their legendary sour milk, which they offer in small bowls, but the year runs on hotter days. After the winter ascent, ricet or jota are the most suitable, which also please carnivores with a piece of sausage or ham. They also offer beef and goulash soup, as well as sauerkraut with buckwheat brandy and blood sausage, and in the coming winter they will probably be cooking mostly jota and rice. If it's not too cold, you can sit at one of the tables outside the inn, and while warming your stomach with warm soup, you can enjoy the view of the city under Šmarna gora.
