Photo: Vintgar.si

In the eastern part of the Triglav National Park, the Radovna river carved the beautiful Blejski Vintgar canyon, which is located between the Hom and Boršt hills.

Bled vintgar attracts lovers of natural beauty not only from Slovenia and the surrounding countries, but also from all over Europe. A case of 1600 meters long gorge in Gorenjska, through which the river Radovna flows. The walls of the trough are 50 to 100 meters high, and the slope is 250 meters high.

In the gorge there are jumps, pools, rapids and other corrosive forms of water action. You will admire the unspoilt nature, and you will be captivated by the Alpine river Radovna, which has been shaping the gorge's depth for thousands of years. You will also be impressed by the views of the landscape that opens up in front of you.

From the entrance and almost to the end of the canyon, walk one-way on the wooden paths, you cross bridges from one side to the other several times. During the tour of the gorge, due to measures to prevent the spread of the covid virus, it is forbidden to return via the same route. Therefore, from the point of departure, they are arranged and well signposted two return routes. In total, the circular tour will take you two to three hours. The route is not demanding, but it has quite a few steps and easier climbs, so it is not suitable for everyone. Appropriate footwear is also recommended.

As we wrote, there are two ways to get back to the parking lot. The first route is shorter, but more strenuous, while the second one leads slightly upwards, through a beech forest, to a church built at the beginning of the 15th century. There is a rest area at the top where you can have a drink and eat a great apple roll. The path continues across open meadows to the parking lot.

Before the entrance to Vintgar there is a parking lot for which you have to pay 5 euros. In September, the park is open from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and in October from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Entrance fee to the gorge is 10 euros for adults, 2 euros for children and 3 euros for pets.
