1. Grado, Marano Lagunare, Bibione - the Italian seaside romance of Friuli-Venezia Giulia

Grado - is always a good idea for a trip!
Grado - is always a good idea for a trip!

Before the long sandy plain along the Italian coast all the way to Venice, shoot across the border, a day trip to the sea can be started in the village Marano Lagunare. The village lies on the outskirts Maran lagoons, the largest lagoons in Friuli-Venezia Giulia. Almost a seventh of the lagoon consists of nature reserves that protect the local flora and fauna. Marano Lagunare is actually the only settlement on the coast of the lagoon, it will charm us mainly with its fishing spirit, as it not only has the largest fishing fleet in Friuli, but also the largest fish market in the region. In the village, which today plays an important role in the processing of tuna, let's start the trip and have a fish breakfast, and after that let's take a boat to visit the Provincial Nature Reserve of the Estuary of the River Stella, the first wetland that served an educational program. It consists of numerous moats and islets that separate the lagoon from the open sea, and at the same time it is possible to see many birds that have found shelter and food here. Let's continue the trip in a playful spirit and drive along the plain, where on the way we can rest on the sandy shores of somewhat more touristic towns Lignano Sabbiadoro, Gradez, Bibione, Caorle ... We spend the rest of the day in Lido di Jesolo, where we can enjoy the Aqualandia Jesolo water park with the youngest tourists or visit the small Aquarium of the Underwater World and Tropicarium Park. If we are lucky or if we inquire earlier, we can also catch Jesolo Sand Nativity, a kind of exhibition of sand sculptures. An ideal idea for last minute May Day trip.

In Zagreb, you can find one of the most beautiful zoos in Europe.

Zagreb Zoo it is located in the more than two hundred year old Maksimir Park, which is considered one of the most beautiful European zoo parks in the immediate vicinity of the city center. On more than seven hectares, we can observe 275 animal species from almost all continents. In addition to the tour, it is also possible to attend various educational programs, and it is particularly interesting to see the feeding of the animals, as the caretakers share their experiences and many other interesting facts about the animals with the visitors during this time. This is a very interesting destination for the first of May, because at this time of the year it is extremely varied in zoos. Many animal species give birth to young at this time, which makes the visit even more interesting. After visiting the zoo, you can continue to discover the city, which has developed tremendously in recent years and offers plenty of culinary delights and urban happenings. 3. Graz – the green heart of Austria

Graz is so green!
Graz is so green!

A city whose old core is Unesco included in the list of world cultural heritage in 1999, due to its extensive green areas, it justly boasts the nickname 'the green heart of Austria'. On Castle Hill, which offers a wonderful view of the red roofs of old Graz and many parks, proudly stands the symbol of the city - the clock tower, built in the 13th century. In the spring time, a walk through the Herbersteingarten garden, under the clock tower, on which they thrive, will be especially beautiful Mediterranean plants. The heart of the old town is the main square. Just behind the town hall, which dominates the main square, is the most beautiful building in the city - the State Manor. While walking along the Sporgasse street, let us not only be tempted by the shop windows, but also look towards the Renaissance portals, Gothic windows and Baroque facades, which prove that Graz's old town was rightly included in the world cultural heritage. Nearby, the cathedral, which was built in the 15th century, reminds us of the times of the Habsburg presence. The most unusual building in the city is the Graška House of Art, which the inhabitants called the 'friendly Alien' due to its unusual rounded shape and which seems to start blinking at any time. In the immediate vicinity, above the level of the river Mures let's leave it to the warm sun and some drinks on the island on the Mura, also built in 2003. In addition to the cafe, there is also a large amphitheater inside. For the palate, the cuisine of the Austrian Styria is famous above all for its pumpkin oil, potatoes in a hundred and one ways, dumplings, meat specialties and 'smorno'. "Nothing new," we think when we hear the above, but the chefs in the best restaurants in Graz always offer something new and fresh. Hungry for Styrian delicacies they like to turn in Landhauskeller, which is known above all for its excellent beef and varied wine list, which offers as many as three hundred different wines. Those who cannot do without goulash swear by Gulascheck. One of the most famous restaurants in Graz. An ideal idea for last minute May Day trip.
