It is not so easy to meet your other half, your partner, online. How to attract a person into your life through social networks? What is important to get noticed? According to statistics, it's a mix of things you can't control, most notably how you talk about yourself and what you show online. Obviously, looks and your words and where you take your profile photo are important.
Let's see what science has to say about this.
1. Using certain words
After examining 12,000 profiles on eHarmony in 2014, dating experts found out, that there are certain words that will definitely attract the opposite sex. The researchers found that women who used words like “ambitious”, “sweet and "thoughtful", received messages from interested men more often. Whereas women used to write to men who used words to describe themselves like "passionate", "physically fit", "ambitious".
In a study by Match.com from 2017 the words shifted to "love", "fun", "friends", "laughter" and "music". Women are attracted to profiles with words "care and "family", and men an expression "simple".
2. Take a photo outdoors (if you are a man)
Zoosk study from 2013 showed that men who took a photo of themselves outdoors and used it as their profile picture increased their number of messages by 19 percent. Apparently, women want to see men doing stereotypically rugged and masculine things.

Don't be afraid to use emoticons when you're messaging someone, says a study by dating site Zoosk. And when you do that, don't forget the “nose” :-), because that way you get 13 percent more positive responses, while a smile without a “nose” is 66 percent more likely to be ignored.
