You will certainly be satisfied with the work done, but at the same time you have consciously given up all the potential that is still hidden in your electronic intelligence.

System upgrade

The first reason to use the app iRobot HOME it may not seem like the most important thing to you. But it is, because it represents a kind of basis. Modern robots depend on algorithms. These are their wits. And just as we learn, so must the robot. He acquires new abilities and skills by upgrading the software. Without them there is no progress. If the robot is not connected to the application, then its system cannot be upgraded when an update is available. It's that simple. Even if you're sure you'll still control the robot manually, connect it to the app at least for this reason.

It's easiest with examples

The easiest way to present the other reasons is with examples. The Roomba robot it has a whole bunch of sensors that help it orient itself in space and prevent it from getting stuck somewhere or on something. In order to find their way around the space, they design a floor plan or several floor plans of the apartments, which help him find all the rooms, clean them and then easily return to the starting point - the docking station, where he charges the battery and maybe, if it is such a model, empty box. At the same time, the floor plan also offers you many new possibilities. Maybe you didn't even know what all is hidden in this feature. On the floor plan, you draw areas where the robot is not allowed, because there are objects that it can damage or they damage it, and lines that it must not cross. You can also mark an area, for example around the dining table, which needs to be vacuumed several times and is not limited by walls like a room. You can group or ungroup rooms if the robot may not have detected them correctly and name them. Why? The answer is not difficult. So that you can send the robot only where you want later with a voice command or via the application. But that's not all that floor plans allow. At combined Roomba robots you can also mark areas with carpets, textile coverings or other sensitive materials where you do not want wet cleaning.

Each time the robot completes a task, it presents its work on a floor plan. Even with the most basic models, you can see if it actually cleared the entire area or where it couldn't because it ran into an obstacle. In the case of models with a camera on the front (such as the Roomba robots of the J family), you can also see objects that were lying on the floor and were avoided during work. This is good because you can tell him what to do the next time he encounters them. Designate the surrounding area as off-limits or ask the robot to simply ignore or avoid the object in the future.

The iRobot app offers the possibility of creating a schedule. In it, you simply specify the days and hours when you want the robot to perform tasks, whether you are at home or not. Even if you don't like schedules, they can be very helpful. Maybe you meant to start the robot before you left home, but forgot. Or simply decided at some point that it was the right time to clean. In such cases, the application is irreplaceable, as it allows you to start the robot remotely and via the Internet, and then check how successful it was.

We have not yet exhausted all the possibilities that the application offers, but we have listed the most important ones, or functions that we are sure will be useful to you. But you will find much more. From the ability to change the language in which Roomba will advertise, to checking the health of the robot. It is not superfluous to know when it is time to replace or clean its vital parts. We are sure of one more thing. Once you decide on an application, you will use it regularly and at the same time wonder why you did not realize its advantages much earlier.
