MAVRAHI FOR MODERN FURMANS On the way from Ljubljana to Primorska, more than a century and a half ago, Pr' Kopač knew how to take care of tired and hungry travelers. The coachmen who traveled to the sea and back could rest and eat well here, and the horses were also taken care of. Today, when we travel by car and serve hungry guests in converted former stables full of homeliness, they say that most of them are regulars. In addition to the classic offer, their crispy fried chickens are known far and wide. It is worth checking out Kopač's mushroom menu, especially in autumn, when mushroom enthusiasts flood the Slovenian forests. At Kopač, they cook an excellent mushroom soup all year round, in which you will also find porcini mushrooms and chanterelles, and grilled fresh beech oysters and champignons or shiitake mushrooms, seasoned with garlic and parsley, are also delicious. In season, they prefer to grill fresh porcini slices, and if you're lucky, they'll also prepare a house specialty: trout fillet in a cream sauce with horseradish. Since champignons are extremely rare and expensive mushrooms, the offer of the mentioned dish depends also or mainly on the luck of the mushroom picker in the forest.
