Instagram has introduced a bunch of new features, the most notable of which is… you guessed it: Instagram repost. Or in other words – resharing someone else’s posts. Something that almost all networks have had for years (hello, former Twitter/“retweet”), is now finally available on Instagram. Better late than never, right?
Users will be able to reshared public Reels and feed posts, and these reposts will be recommended to your friends and followersEvery Instagram repost will clearly attribute the original authorto keep credit where it belongs (internet karma is serious currency).
In addition, they will all your reposts collected in a special tab on your profilefor others to find in one place – like a curated library of your “others need to see this” moments.
Instagram Map: A little Snapchat, a little "where are you?"
Another novelty is Instagram Map, a function that allows sharing your last active location with selected followersThey see it on interactive map, and the location is automatically refreshes when opening InstagramYes, the feature is “borrowed” from Snapchat – because why reinvent the wheel when we can just paint it in Instagram’s color palette.
Privacy, but seriously
Share your location only with people you trustWe recommend that you quickly check your privacy settings before turning it on and take half a minute to:
– who you added to “close friends”,
– do you want constant sharing or only occasional sharing,
– and did you really open Instagram in a taxi speeding across the city?
Editor's note: When posting, add a link to the explanation of privacy settings on Instagram's official support page.
Repost...why is IG changing?
Reposts open up more avenues for organic reach (for authors) and curated inspiration (for followers), Instagram Map but strengthens real-time connection – at least for those who are comfortable sharing their footprint on a map. The platform is catching up with user habits elsewhere. And yes, your feed might look a little more like the For You page – but that's why we have a repost tab to keep it clear what's whose.
