iPhone 17 fully revealed: all the hot rumors ahead of Apple's big 2025 reveal

Will the new colors be enough to cover up Apple's somewhat unusual decisions?

In the world of tech rumors, Apple's missteps are often more telling than their carefully planned presentations. iPhone 17 fully revealed. This time, however, the company with the apple in its logo has surprised with a concrete portion of self-inflicted "unfortunate" information leaks that reveal quite a few interesting details about the upcoming iPhone 17.

If we're honest, Apple has long since ceased to be as mysterious as we would probably like. In the last week, two rather comical slip-ups have brought some pretty juicy details about this year's line. iPhones. But let's take a look in order. iPhone 17 fully revealed!

New iOS 26 beta reveals “secret” iPhone 17 Air – iPhone 17 fully revealed

The first and most obvious secret leak comes straight from Apple itself. Someone (apparently with a lot of time and little life) spotted a wallpaper in the new iOS 26 beta with a very specific resolution (1260×2736) that doesn’t match any of the currently available devices. And what a coincidence – this resolution perfectly matches the rumors about the screen of the new ultra-light iPhone 17 Air model, which is said to have a screen size of 6.6 inches.

This is probably the situation where an Apple programmer thinks, “Oops, did I forget to remove that?” and Tim Cook looks at him with a raised eyebrow. All kidding aside, while rumors of an Air version have been circulating for a while, this is the first tangible proof that it’s real. Apple will apparently offer the new model as early as September this year.

MagSafe 2.2 brings (almost) revolutionary charging speeds

Another glitch that has been making the rounds online is the revelation of the new Qi2.2 standard for wireless charging, which will allow speeds of up to 50W. Although it has not yet been officially confirmed that the new iPhones will actually support such a high speed, there is a pretty strong possibility that Apple is seriously considering introducing a long-awaited feature - reverse wireless charging.

Anyone who has been desperate to charge their AirPods or Apple Watch right on the back of their iPhone for years may finally get their chance - well, of course, if you buy the Pro model, because Apple has long had the golden rule: "you want more, pay more." iPhone 17 fully revealed!

iPhone 17 Air: super thin, super light, super… bad battery?

The weight of the new ultra-thin iPhone 17 Air is said to be only 145 grams, which is almost a fifth less than the current model. How did they do it? Simple - Apple removed everything they don't absolutely need. Including a good part of the battery. The capacity of the new battery is said to be a modest 2800 mAh, which is about the same as the battery in the ancient iPhone 12 from 2020.

Of course, Apple has a brilliant plan: intelligent AI battery optimization. It's a technology that tracks user habits and automatically adjusts settings so that users can barely get through the day. Does it work? We don't know. But it sounds like the perfect solution to a problem that shouldn't have been created in the first place. Unless, of course, you want your new iPhone Air to become an ultra-lightweight paperweight.

Basic iPhone 17 – new number, old specs?

For the base iPhone 17 model, the situation is even more bizarre. Rumors say that the screen will grow to 6.3 inches this year, while also getting a 120 Hz refresh rate. Great news? Well, not exactly. Apple's "hidden catch" is that this screen will not have an adaptive refresh rate (ProMotion), but will constantly run at 120 Hz, which can be a big battery drain.

And as if one bad news wasn't enough, the processor will also remain the same as last year's iPhone 16 model. So the iPhone 17 with the A18 chip and 8 GB of RAM will be practically the same phone as last year, just with a higher number and nicer colors. If that's not the marketing move of the year, then I don't know what is.

Perhaps Apple will try to cover this up with attractive color options like green or the popular purple, which has been a hit with users several times. Let's face it, colors sometimes work wonders (at least for marketing).

iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max: smaller notch and questionable camera "upgrade"

For those willing to shell out more for the best experience, Apple is preparing some really interesting changes. While the color scheme will once again remain boring (black, white, gray, and blue being the only bold options), the Pro models will bring some subtle changes.

The Dynamic Island, Apple's famous notch, is said to be slightly smaller this year, although rumors are still not entirely consistent. Much more questionable, however, is the move with the new camera. Although the telephoto sensor will get a major upgrade to 48 MP, the optical zoom will be reduced from the current 5x back to 3.5x. Apple of course promises great close-up portraits and zoom using the sensor crop, but it seems a little absurd that the new model will actually have an optically worse zoom than its predecessor.

Ultimately – to buy or not to buy?

As every year, the new iPhones will be met with excitement and a few skeptical sighs. The fact is, Apple will have to justify this year's somewhat strange decisions very well. Or at least wrap them in a nicer color and sell them as "innovative", which they have succeeded in many times.

September will definitely be very interesting, as Apple's presentation will definitely have some surprises - planned or unintended.

But if you're one of those who can't wait for Apple's slow wireless charging, you can try out Anker's new MagGo, which is available exclusively at Apple stores. Fast charging, a stylish light, and an adjustable angle - apparently someone knows how to listen to users, right?

Until then, stay tuned - we'll definitely be keeping a close (and skeptical) eye on everything Apple has in store this year.

If you've made it to the end of this marathon article, tell us in the comments which Apple move you think is the most absurd this year. We promise to respond with equal irony.
