iPhone 17 Pro, Pro Max, Air and base model – everything you need to know about Apple's revamped smartphone vision. This will be the iPhone 17 series, according to expert reviews.

Apple hasn't revealed anything official yet, but if all the information that's been leaking from all corners of the internet is to be believed, we're in for a new iPhone generation this fall that will finally break the boredom of recent years. The iPhone 17 series is said to be more than just a new number - we're talking about four models iPhone 17 series, each of which plays its own role in Apple's (alleged) future strategy: the technical superiority of the Pro models, the elegance of the new ultra-thin Air model, and an updated entry-level iPhone for the "masses."

Although it's all still in the "rumors and renders" category, the amount and consistency of information is enough to create a fairly realistic picture of what Apple is expected to unveil in September 2025.

iPhone 17 series – 2025

iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max: the first serious redesign in many years?

If the rumors are to be believed, the iPhone 17 Pro series will be the ones that bring the most changes. In terms of design, Apple is said to finally abandon the established camera layout and opt for a horizontal row on the back, which will host three cameras – all with 48 MP sensors: wide-angle, ultra-wide, and telephoto with 5x optical zoom. This is said to be the first iPhone with a uniform resolution across all three sensors, which should significantly improve the consistency of photos and videos.

In addition to the new camera setup, the Pro models are said to feature an aluminum body with a partially glass back — a change that marks the end of the “titanium era.” The main reason? Aluminum is lighter, cheaper, and better suited to wireless technology.

Under the hood, a new A19 Pro chip is expected, made in advanced 3nm N3P technology, along with 12 GB of RAM - which would enable serious AI functions under the auspices of the so-called Apple Intelligence for the first time. The new display - 6.3 inches (Pro) or 6.9 (Pro Max) - will remain OLED LTPO with 120 Hz, but should get a new anti-reflective coating that improves visibility outdoors.

According to rumors, the cooling will also receive an upgrade: replacing the current system with a so-called vapor chamber should allow for better thermal regulation during intensive use.

Connectivity will be handled by Apple's own Wi-Fi 7 chip and a Snapdragon X75 modem for 5G, meaning speeds of up to 40 Gbps. Pricing? Rumor has it that the starting price will be €1,199 for the Pro model.

iPhone 17 Air: the thinnest iPhone ever – and the first in a long time with a truly fresh philosophy

Perhaps the most surprising member of this year's lineup will be the iPhone 17 Air - a new model that is said to be the thinnest iPhone ever, measuring just around 5.5mm thick. This model is said to be a true design statement, created for users who value aesthetics over technical excesses.

A 6.6-inch OLED display with 120 Hz, an aluminum body, and only one rear camera are expected – a 48 MP sensor without additional lenses. There should be a 24 MP camera on the front, which is above standard for a “slim model”.

It's said to be powered by an A19 chip (not the Pro version), with 8GB of RAM, suggesting it's more of a style model than a performance model. It should, however, support Wi-Fi 7 and Apple's new 5G modem.

Although it is new to the line, the price will likely be comparable to the Pro model – rumors mention around €999.

iPhone 17: A refreshed base model that finally keeps up with the times

The base iPhone 17 is expected to feature a 120Hz display for the first time this year – something Apple has previously reserved for the Pro models. The display is expected to be a 6.27-inch LTPO OLED, also with anti-reflective coating.

It is also said to feature the A19 chip, with 8GB of RAM – enough for most tasks, but without the more advanced AI features that Apple will likely limit to the Pro models. The camera is said to remain the same – 48 MP – but improved with software image processing.

The front is expected to feature the same 24MP camera as the other models, meaning Apple is betting on selfie uniformity across the board. New Wi-Fi 7 and 5G connectivity should become standard across the board.

The base iPhone 17 is expected to cost around €899, which is in line with the trend that "base" is never exactly cheap at Apple.

Colors that are no longer just “shades of gray”

Apple is finally set to add some bold color with the iPhone 17 series. Rumors are swirling about new shades: Teal Titanium, Green Titanium and Dark Green Titanium, which are expected to replace the boring palette of space gray, silver, and gold. Of course, the classic black and white will likely remain in the offer, but 2025 could be the first step towards a more individualized aesthetic.

Conclusion: If half of the rumors are true, the iPhone 17 series will be the biggest refresh since the iPhone X

While Apple hasn't revealed any official specs yet, the amount of information coming from reliable sources is simply too much to ignore. Everything suggests that Apple is preparing something more than just cosmetic fixes. The iPhone 17 series - if predictions are correct - will bring a complete redesign, smarter features, more powerful hardware and most importantly - variety.

From Pro capabilities to the minimalist Air, 2025 could finally be the moment when Apple starts to set trends again, not just follow them. And if nothing else, we'll at least have more colors to choose from.

Will you wait for September or remain loyal to your "still fully functional" iPhone 13?
