When Apple introduced the iPhone 6 in 2014, we got a bigger screen, but also an unwanted bonus: the first protruding camera module. A small “pimple” that turned into a real mountain with each new generation. If the rumors are true, this “Everest” will reach its peak with the upcoming iPhone 17. But it is saved by Mynus MAGBACK.
Japanese company Mynus decided enough was enough. Their new product, the Mynus MAGBACK, is a minimalist backplate that easily flattens the camera. Its subtle wedge shape not only provides visual pleasure, but also provides a better grip. It attaches using a magnetic field and a micro-suction layer, MagSafe and compatibility ensures that you can still use all your favorite accessories and wireless chargers. In short: the functionality remains, the hump disappears.
It is currently MAGBACK available for iPhone 16 Pro, but unfortunately Mynus does not ship products to the US at the moment. while they do ship them to the EU. So Americans will have to suffer a little longer with an iPhone that wobbles on the table like a moody teenager. And the price. Around 35 euros.
Mynus is not the only one who said "enough is enough." A similar philosophy is also pursued by Peak Design with the Everyday Case, which doesn't completely flatten the camera, but protects it and elegantly integrates it into its flat shape. Totallee went even more radical with its ultra-thin case, which successfully avoids any unnecessary aesthetics and returns the phone to almost bare lines. The difference? Mynus' magic weapon is the perfect illusion of a plane, which makes the iPhone work again the way it should from the beginning - without bumps and hills.
