People who are lucky enough to find their dream profession already in childhood are very rare, and Irina Kysselef is also one of those who, through a web of coincidences, only discovered it later in life. After studying economics and a ten-year career in the organization of advertising festivals, she felt that this job no longer suited her and set about developing her newly discovered talent, arranging hair.
Starting for the first time…
Two years ago, she found herself at a point in her life when she was more interested in what positive things she could contribute to society with her work than just surviving, and in the meantime, she discovered an immense love for pinning hair. For almost nine years, he has been dancing and teaching a nostalgic genre of dance called swing, in which dancers like to arrange themselves in the spirit of past eras. She was most attracted to this by the positive energy at the dance evenings. She was educated mainly abroad, but she is pleased that the interest in this dance genre is also growing in Slovenia.
Beginning Second time…
She noticed that when pinning hairstyles for dance events, considerable attention must be paid to durability, as the hairstyle must retain its shape even during wild jumps and acrobatics. Since she couldn't find hairdressers who knew how to arrange her hair in this style, she set about fixing and arranging it herself. She began to develop her love for hairstyling at swing festivals in Italy and Hungary, where she also learned a lot from foreign masters of this art. She draws inspiration and styling techniques from past eras, and her goal is to create a comprehensive hairstyle that suits both hair type and face shape, occasion and outfit, and above all, she looks at hairstyle design as the completion of an overall image. In addition to beautifying dancers, she has a lot of work in the summer with the grooming of brides, likes to participate in fashion shoots or to groom musicians, actresses and TV presenters for performances.
Talent, hard work and advertising
This year brought her the opening of her own showroom, furnished in a feminine nostalgic style. In it, she hosts workshops on useful hair pinning tricks, during which she teaches visitors the most suitable type of hairstyle for their hair type and how they can easily pin their hair for various occasions. Guests sit at lovely antique beauty tables while studying, and sip tea during breaks in the cozy living room, furnished with recycled furniture. The salon also displays Irina's original hair accessories, which she is particularly proud of. She wants to connect with other Slovenian designers and offer users as diverse a selection of hair accessories as possible.
Due to her experience in the field of advertising, she approached her new career very holistically. He realizes that not only talent and hard work are important, but also advertising. He draws attention to himself with the help of specially designed business cards and gifts, and by attending nostalgic events. She also creatively designed the graphic image of her brand herself, and sought the help of a qualified graphic designer for its realization. The order in which her new career developed is quite unusual; without any prior knowledge, she managed to establish herself as a specialist in hair styling, while she does not yet deal with hair maintenance, cutting and coloring. In order to improve her knowledge, she decided to enroll in the Secondary Hairdressing School. While attending classes, he realizes how interesting it is to go to school as an adult. As a mature person, he draws knowledge much more usefully, he knows exactly what he is interested in and what he needs to learn.
Through her work, Irina proves that it is never too late to follow one's inner calling. Her joy in work and courage in deciding on a completely new career path are a wonderful inspiration and an inspiration to all the rest of us who are (too) timid to take such a step.
