If we missed the public showing of the documentary last month (in Gali Hala on Ljubljana's Metelkova), which points out the pluses and, above all, the minuses of the ever-increasing freeness of music, the 84-minute long film with the eloquent title Music is Free can now also be viewed online.
The creators (of the online music magazine Hrupmag) filmed and completed the documentary film, which highlights the ever-increasing issue of free music in Slovenia, in an extremely short period of time (that is, less than a month).
Many Slovenian performers are forced to offer their music online for free and to play concerts where there is no entrance fee. Although the Slovenian music scene is definitely not dying down, as there is more and more production, on the other hand, it seems that the audience is slowly lacking. Especially the one who appreciates music and is ready to shell out a few euros for it. The documentary touches on all these and many other questions through interviews with more than twenty domestic actors. What representatives of music venues, publishers, media representatives, musicians and random users think about the intersection of art and economics and the issue of free music can be seen in a new documentary The music is for nothing.
