Skiers competed at the Winter Olympics in 1984 at Jahorina, Bosnia and Herzegovina's largest ski resort. For many years, this ski resort has been attracting tourists from other countries. The largest ski resort in Bosnia and Herzegovina welcomes guests this winter with even more slopes and new gondolas.

Jahorina is located in the Republika Srpska canton, 15 kilometers from the administrative center of Pale, 30 kilometers from Sarajevo and 480 kilometers from Ljubljana. As a ski resort, it became most famous during the Winter Olympic Games in Sarajevo in 1984. The favorable climate and a lot of snow is the reason for the long ski season, as Jahorina is covered with snow for as many as 175 days a year, from October to May, the ten-year average of snow in February is 106 cm. In recent years, Jahorina has modernized the lifts, gondolas, lighting, and snowmaking, thus becoming one of the most modern ski resorts in the Balkans.

Ski slope

Jahorina, whose peak Ogorjelica is 1,916 meters high, has 11 ski slopes, with different difficulty levels and lengths, with a total length of 47 kilometers and a capacity of 28,800 skiers per hour. More and more pistes are equipped with artificial snowmaking equipment. Night skiing is also possible. There are also three ski kindergartens on the ski resort. The height difference between the ski areas is 5,840 meters, and the tracks are connected to each other by cable cars and ordinary lifts. Jahorina also has a special track for snowmobiles.

The prices of ski passes are almost half the price of the nearby ski resorts in Italy and Austria. So you can ski during the winter school holidays for 31 euros per day (adult). You can find a detailed price list of ski tickets for the 2021/2022 season HERE.

Excellent food offer

You can find good local beers and Herzegovinian wines and excellent brandy in every inn, while the dishes in the restaurants on the ski resort offer kebabs and burgers, as well as various Bosnian specialties. Jahorina offers a lot for relatively little money. The ski slopes are well groomed, the atmosphere is great, the lifts are getting better and few people will complain about the food and entertainment.
