Jeep unveiled seven concepts at this year's Moab Easter Safari that draw on the past. All of them are Wranglers and Gladiators - no sign of the electric Recon and Wagoneer S models.

Forget the future – this year Jeep decided not to show where it is going, but where it comes from. At its 59th edition Easter Jeep Safari events in Moab, Utah, instead of visions of an electric future, it unveiled seven concepts that would fit perfectly in the parking lot of a 90s blockbuster. There's no electric Recon or Wagoneer S among them—just full-blooded retro Wranglers and GladiatorsBut hey, who needs the silence of electric motors when you have Grimace purple paint and 40-inch off-road tires?

Jeep Rewind Concept: 90s MTV on four wheels

If someone told you that Jeep was collaborating with Nickelodeon, you would have thought so after seeing the concept. Rewind You might even believe it. It's a two-seat, roofless, doorless Jeep Wrangler, dressed in "Grimace Purple" and featuring graphics reminiscent of 1993 TV commercials. The interior? Fabrics that would be right at home on your great-aunt's California sofa.

Under the hood is a standard 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine with an 8-speed automatic transmission - no manual option, which is a bit of a shame. The engine develops 270 horsepower (201 kW) and 400 Nm of torque. It may not be the most powerful Wrangler ever, but it is one of the coolest.

Conclusion: Jeep remains true to itself – and its customers

While many expect Jeep to build its future on electric vehicles (as with the Wagoneer S and Recon), this year it decided to take a different approach – showing off its tradition. And honestly? It suits it very well. The Easter Jeep Safari has always been an event for serious enthusiasts, and this year's concepts do not disappoint.

The absence of electric models is nevertheless significant. At a time when the competition (Ford, Rivian, Tesla…) is stepping hard on the e-polygon, Jeep is (mentally) slowly testing the terrain – literally. And while it’s not revealed how much each of these concepts would cost (if they even went into production), they’re all a reminder that Jeep still understands what “iconic SUV” means. But we’re sure that for the 60th anniversary of the event next year, there will be a little more… electricity in the air.

What about you? Would you choose a retro Gladiator with 40” tires or a quiet electric Recon?
