Jeep Wrangler ARTT x Dometic 2025: The Overland Rooftop Tent of the Future That Won't Leave You on the Ground

When a Jeep becomes a convertible for sleeping

The stars of overlanding have aligned: Jeep and Dometic have joined forces to create something that smells like a revolution. The ARTT is not just a tent. It's a house, a club, and a sky observatory all rolled into one. And yes, it's still a Jeep.

Overlanding has long been more than just riding big tires and brewing coffee on a Jetboil by the Soča River. It's a way of life, and like any true lifestyle, it also requires aesthetics and smart functionality. Jeep, in collaboration with overland gurus from Domestic, presents the ARTT – “Awning and Rooftop Tent” system, which in concept form caused a wave of excitement at Overland Expo West in Arizona. And for good reason.

When function is elegant

The first thing that catches your eye? The low-profile carbon shell. It's like a glamping tent for two stuffed into a Patagonia backpack. But inside lies comfort – a roof tent with Dometic's AIR Frame inflation technology, four zippered windows, a ladder for external access and space for a double bed. In reality, it's a hotel room with a view of the stars (with Netflix if you have enough 4G signal).

Tent for a party, LED party lighting included

The awning, which extends like a Tuscan pergola (well, almost), turns the back of the Jeep into a real social hub. The 270-degree coverage means shade, shelter and ambient lighting with built-in LED strips. It’s supported by a steel cable running from the hood (because why not?) and multiple support arms – all with full access to the trunk. That’s called “hangout mode,” no Wi-Fi password required.

Entry from the inside: a futuristic passage to ARTT

Don't you think climbing up a ladder into a tent at 3 a.m. is a dream come true? ARTT lets you access your roof tent directly from the cabin of your Jeep. Remove the freedom panels, step onto the carbon fiber step, and voilà – you're entering the sleeping module like an astronaut. No dewy grass, no mosquitoes. Just comfort.

A Jeep that breathes with Dometic

It's important to note that ARTT isn't just a marketing gimmick from Jeep. It's the fruit of a collaboration with Dometic, a company that has almost cult status in the world of overland equipment. When they sign something, it means it's no joke. And Jeep knows when to let the experts do their job.

Conclusion: ARTT – a concept that should become a series

Although it’s a concept, the ARTT is already more useful than half the production tents on the market. With its combination of smart design, lightweight construction, interior access, and a sociable awning, it looks like a product that could redefine what we mean by “motorhome.” And if it actually goes on sale (which we really hope it does), the ARTT will become the new holy grail for any serious overlander.

Pricing is not yet known, but considering the Dometic's premium positioning and Jeep's styling, it's likely to be high - but hey, isn't it worth it for your own penthouse under the stars?
