Mr. Big

Mr. Big
Mr. Big

Mr. Big are giants of American rock. The band was formed in Los Angeles in 1988, and was founded by the famous names of the music scene: vocalist Eric Martin, guitarist Paul Gilbert, who is ranked among the top guitarists by many world guitar magazines, bassist Billy Sheehan, who also worked with David Lee Roth , The Winery Dogs, Talas and Steve Vai, and drummer Pat Torpey, who also worked with Belinda Carlisle, Richie Kotzen, Robert Plant and others. To most of the world, the band is also known for the hit To Be With You. Mr. Big ruled mainly among the Asian listeners (they were really "big" among the Japanese, which was helped by the cooperation with Sega!), and their popularity did not decline even after Gilbert left the band and was replaced by Richie Kotzen, with whom they recorded two albums. But as happens to many bands, Mr. Sooner or later, Big exhausted all ideas, began to connect with other projects and ceased to operate in 2002. They returned to the scene in 2009 and are still around today. They have released quite a few records, but most recently they delighted the world with the album Defying Gravity, which was released last year and which they will also present at a concert in Slovenia.

Laibach

At the initiative of the Adam Mickiewicz Institute, the ensemble prepared a unique interpretation of Symphony no. 3 by Polish composer Andrzej Panufnik, also called Sinfonia Sacra. It is reputed to be one of the composer's most accessible and popular works and is based on the first known Polish hymn to the Virgin Mary. The program will also include an orchestral adaptation of their original music for the play Thus Spoke Zarathustra, from the Anton Podbevšek Theater in Novi Sad, directed by Matjaž Berger; they performed it successfully on a sold-out two-month tour of Europe. The most famous musical interpretation of Nietzsche's work is the poem of the same name by Richard Strauss from 1896, which became famous for its use in Kubrick's film Odyssey 2001. The Laibach group did not rely on Strauss in their interpretation of Zarathustra, but decided to use their own musical reading. Laibach's performance will be accompanied by a rich visual scene, this time under the baton of the Flemish conductor Filip Rathé.
