At Monterey Car Week 2024, Kalmar Automotive presented a model that combines the best of two worlds – the past and the future. Described as "the world's first retro hypercar," the Kalmar 9x9 pays homage to the legendary Porsche 959, but with all the modern refinements we've come to expect from a 21st century hypercar.

The Kalmar 9×9 delivers everything a car enthusiast could wish for – exceptional performance, unique design and cutting-edge technology. Under the hood hides a 3.8-liter boxer engine that produces incredible 930 horsepower (679 kW). This power is transmitted to all four wheels via an advanced system s double clutch, which ensures driving characteristics suitable for all conditions.

The design elements of this car are undoubtedly inspired by the iconic Porsche 959, but Kalmar does not hide its ambition to surpass its predecessor. The entire body of the vehicle is made of light carbon fiber, which enables an optimal ratio between strength and weight and improves aerodynamic properties. To ensure perfect stability at high speeds, Kalmar Automotive collaborated with the Italian company Danisi Engineering to develop a unique suspension with two guides and adaptive dampers.

Variations for all tastes

The Kalmar 9×9 is available in three versions, adapted to the different needs of drivers. In addition to the standard version with 930 horsepower, there is also a 9×9 Sport model that offers a more interactive experience with a manual seven-speed gearbox and 650 horsepower (478 kW). For purists, there is also the 9×9 Leichtbau model, which boasts a 4.0-liter naturally aspirated engine, a six-speed manual transmission and a weight of only 1,250 kilograms.

The future of motoring with the soul of the past

The Kalmar 9×9 is more than just a vehicle – it is the manifestation of automotive dreams. Its minimalist interior design, without unnecessary technology such as navigation or radio, emphasizes pure driving pleasure. Designed for two passengers, the cabin includes hand-crafted seats tailored to the individual driver and passenger. Safety is provided by a hidden safety cage, which further increases the strength of the vehicle.

Although the price of the vehicle has not yet been revealed, the Kalmar 9×9 is expected to become highly sought after by collectors and car enthusiasts around the world. First deliveries are scheduled for July 2025, which means that early adopters will have to wait a little longer before they can enjoy this beautiful retro hypercar.
