It could be said that among small crossovers, the Kia Niro did not stand out much. Only this will change completely with the new generation, as it is one of those cars that has undergone such a big change that the old and new generation are no longer similar.
Kia Niro the new generation shares many details with its concept predecessor, the Kia HabaNiro. Similarities can be found in the headlamps, contrasting rear pillar, boomerang-shaped taillights and two-tone Y-shaped wheels. The new Niro has massive rear pillars, which may cause some inconvenience when reversing. Of course, the production model has normal doors, and instead of side cameras, normal mirrors.
The interior is also redesigned and functional more modern, and I can draw parallels with the new Kia Sportage. The slightly clumsy gear lever of the previous generation has said goodbye, and it has been replaced by a rotary knob, which is used to select the gears of the automatic transmission. The ceiling coverings are made of recycled wallpaper, and the seats are made of bio-plastics and eucalyptus pulp. With a cleaner future in mind, the door panels are painted with a water-based paint that is free of environmentally harmful substances. More technical details of the new Kia Niro will be known in the future year.
