Buckle up: The Swedes have turned their horse story into a hypercar rodeo that's both road-legal and race-bred. This is the Koenigsegg Sadair's Spear.
Name Koenigsegg Sadair's Spear is not a marketing whim, but a tribute to the horse it is mounted on Jesko von Koenigsegg rode his last race in 1976. His son Christian continues the family saga of hypermobiles, named after his father and his passion for gallopers.
Engine & transmission: more horses than on the racetrack
- 5.0 liter twin-turbo V8 develops 1 300 hp (969 kW) on petrol and car 1,625 hp (1,212 kW) on E85.
- Max. torque: 1,500 Nm (1,106 lb-ft), available from 2,700 rpm.
- 9-speed Light Speed Transmission it shifts gears faster than you can pronounce “smörgåsbord”.
Acceleration?
Koenigsegg is not (yet) disclosing the official 0–100 km/h (0–62 mph) time, but given the same powertrain as the Jesko, expect a time well under 2.7 seconds.
Aerodynamics: double blade and 1.7 tons of vacuum
Active double wing at the top of the tail, larger canards, a stretched diffuser and grilles in the fenders create up to 1,765 kg of vacuum – more than a small hatchback weighs.
Weight loss regimen & chassis
- Dry weight: 1,320 kg (2,910 lb) – 35 kg less than Jesko Attack.
- Forged carbon “Aircore” wheels: 20” front, 21” rear.
- Pneumatic core: Michelin Pilot Cup 2 in sizes 275/35 ZR20 and 335/30 ZR21; optional ultra-sticky Cup 2 R.
- Carbon-ceramic discs Ø410/395 mm with new linings for brutal deceleration.
“Every kilogram less and every kilowatt more counts – that's our Scandinavian diet,” Christian summed it up succinctly.
Speed & records
- Top speed: 360 km/h (225 mph).
- Gotland Ring: With a lap 1.1 seconds faster than Jesko Attack, Spear has already taken the local throne.
Cabin: minimalism with USB socket
The interior is not an ascetic cell – they remain induction charging, Apple CarPlay and SmartCenter screen. Optional six-point harnesses upgrade the carbon shells; don't look for the gear lever, because the key-card has taken up space.
Exclusivity & price
Production is limited to 30 copies and it was sold out “in the moment”. Unofficially, Spear will make it easier for you to get around £3.8 million – and that's before you add a suitcase of carbon fiber options.
Conclusion: Koenigsegg Sadair's Spear
Koenigsegg Sadair's Spear is more than just another extreme version. It is the distillation of 30 years of obsession with breaking physical boundaries, packaged in road-legal carbon. A top speed of 360 km/h, a downforce of 1.7 tons and a power-to-weight ratio of over 1:1 are figures that convince Excel, but the real value lies in the brutal feeling when the double wing is glued to the asphalt, the engine roars at 8,500 rpm, and you are still in the comfortable seat with a USB cable in your phone. If you managed to catch one of the 30 pieces, you have bought not just a hypercar, but a piece of family mythology that smells of petrol, horse sweat and Swedish engineering perfectionism. For everyone else, there is only one consoling thought: at least we will be able to admire it on YouTube - at a safe distance from 1,600+ raging horses.
