The Lamborghini Urus Apocalypse Inferno is a converted super SUV ready for a Mad Max future. Or just a dirt road ride to the nearest vegan cafe.
Urus is basically an SUV that would rather race on highways than in the mud. But then the Americans come along. And they turn it into something that you would easily imagine in the next installment of the franchise “Fast & Furious: Apocalypse”. The remake is called Lamborghini Urus Apocalypse Inferno – and yes, the name is exactly as subtle as the vehicle looks.
With raised chassis, 33-inch Nitto Ridge Grappler With off-road tires and a carbon fiber widebody kit, this Urus looks like Schwarzenegger on steroids – back in the good old days. A spare wheel sits on the roof, a reminder that the owner may have once planned to drive off-Instagram.
Under the hood: Still a Lamborghini. Just louder.
The Apocalypse Inferno uses a standard 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine that develops 641 horsepower (478 kW) and 850 Nm of torque. It does 0-100 km/h in just 3.0 seconds, which is fast even for a supercar, let alone an SUV with 33-inch tires. Top speed? 305 km/h (189 mph). Don't ask where you'll test it - unless you have your own track.
The vehicle also has six driving modes – from the civilized “Strada” to “Sabbia”, which you would probably choose on your way to a sandy beach in Dubai. With an adaptive air suspension, it can be raised or lowered as your mood changes and the price of fuel changes.
Interior: Luxury cabin for escaping zombies
Inside, you'll find a red and black leather combination – for dramatic effect, of course. You sit comfortably, with a view over the traffic and the feeling of having just left the Batmobile. The infotainment remains classic Lamborghini, i.e. elegant, fast and (sometimes) unintuitive.
The apocalypse has its price.
The Apocalypse Inferno isn't for everyone. The price tag of around $300,000 (around €276,000) is steep, but... can you really put a price on a vehicle that's ready for nuclear winter? and evening gala reception?
Is this the most practical Urus? No. Is it the most dramatic? Without a doubt. Is it art? Probably, in the same sense as Banksy's torn-up painting. And in a world where SUVs rule, this is the ultimate statement – perhaps unnecessary, but all the more desirable.
Conclusion: When luxury and madness sit in the same seat
Lamborghini Urus Apocalypse Inferno is the ultimate paradox. A supercar that wants to go off-road. An SUV that should be at home in Monaco, but would rather be on a journey through the Sahara. It's excessive, it's loud, it's just too much - and that's exactly why it's so damn interesting.
If you've always dreamed of a Lamborghini, but are also prepared for the global collapse of civilization - this is the car for you. If nothing else, it will also fit a supply of water and a pair of hiking boots.
