TRADITION FOLLOWING MODERNITY
Gostilna Lectar in the old town center of Radovljica, which can boast of a two-hundred-year tradition, offers us an unusual combination of food and ambience. In Slovenian national costumes, accompanied by folk music, they offer, in addition to classic Slovenian dishes, an original range of meatless and vegetarian dishes. These are appropriately marked on the menu with lect's heart, but as befits a real inn, we don't need a menu, as they read our wishes from our eyes and offer much more than what the menu contains.
Let's give in to the suggestions of owner Jože Andrejaš or sales manager Vlad Draksobler - we will definitely not be disappointed. House specialties are prepared for the modern vegetable-loving guest: hollowed-out black radish stuffed with a spread of grated radish, homemade cottage cheese, cream and herbs; pumpkin soup served in a pumpkin or leek soup imaginatively served in a green pepper from which it is poured; grilled vegetables, including porcini mushrooms, delicious Travisian radicchio, tomatoes, peppers, zucchini...
It is also a tradition of the inn to offer dandelions for Christmas - where they get them is, of course, a house secret. Since the inn is a real museum in miniature, it is also worth seeing - not just tasting - but if we impress Jože or Vlad, they might play us some more.
In the five-hundred-year-old house, of which the Lectar workshop is also a part, they manufacture recognized products of the old Slovenian craft - lectarija. They also offer us a guided tour of the museum, where we can see the old, original lecto-making process live.
In addition to good home-made food and recognizable products from lect, they also offer bed and breakfast in new, nine rustically furnished rooms with 18 beds. Each room is bright and has a bathroom with shower, mini bar, telephone, cable LCD TV and Internet access. Five warm, cozy and quiet rooms also have access to a terrace with a beautiful view of the mountains or Linhart square.
