The Legende Automobiles R5 T3 is a proven and successful recipe from the 1980s, generously spiced with modern technology.
Due to the increasing phase-out of internal combustion engines and the resulting transition to electric drive, even the so-called ″hot hatches″ are having a hard time. But despite everything, there are still companies that will keep the spirit of pocket firecrackers alive. Legends of Automobiles is one such company that envisioned the renewal of the legendary Renault 5 Turbo. R5 T3 thus represents a modern interpretation of the classic from the eighties, which, among other things, is also a real feast for the eyes. The hand-built bodywork is mostly made of carbon fiber and further widened to fit 16- and 17-inch wheels.
The R5 T3 has modern LED headlights that keep the classic up to date irreplaceable square shape. This time, too, there are air vents on the side of the car, which, in addition to the engine cooling function, are also a tribute to the legendary models Turbo 1 and Turbo 2. The angular exhaust pipe, which marks the rear of the car, is a reminder of the past. The interior remains minimalistic, but it has been completely renovated, and instead of classic indicators, the driver has a digital screen to display only these. Modern times have also given rise to modern dual-zone air conditioning, thinner seats and sporty seat belts.
A safety cage is installed behind the front seats, and underneath it hides a ″classic″ gasoline engine with 400 horsepower. Compared to its predecessor, 158 horsepower, we can talk about a substantial improvement. The transmission is done to the rear wheel pair, and a sequential or manual gearbox is available for shifting. In six years of production, they did 1.820 examples of the model Turbo 1 in 3.167 examples of the Turbo 2 model. Given that many cars were wrecked already in the 1980s and 1990s, Legende Automobiles is targeting a fairly small group of people, and even those who must be willing to give up their the classics, if they wish modern interpretations the legendary Turbo 5s.
