In an age where phones can take better photos than many digital cameras from a few years ago, it may seem strange that instant cameras still exist. But let’s face it, nothing beats the feeling of having a picture printed right in your hands. And when two icons – Moncler and Leica – come together, the Leica x Moncler Sofort 2 is more than just a camera, it’s a real fashion statement.
To celebrate my Fall/Winter 2025 collection, Moncler Grenoble is taking things back to its mountain roots with a spectacular fashion event in Courchevel, a prestigious ski resort in the French Alps. And because it would be a shame for such a fashion fairytale to be captured only by smartphones, they have teamed up with legendary German camera manufacturer Leica to create a special edition model. Sofort 2 — Leica x Moncler Sofort 2.
Leica x Moncler Sofort 2: An instant camera with a touch of luxury
If you've ever wanted a camera that offers more than classic Polaroids, this is it. Leica x Moncler Sofort 2 perfect choice. It is a hybrid camera - it captures a photo digitally and allows you to print it immediately. Thanks to the connection with the app Leica PHOTOS You can even edit your photos before printing them. Which means you can remove those annoying shadows under your eyes before sharing them with the world.
Of course, this special edition isn't just about functionality. It's also about aesthetics – and this is where Moncler knows what it's doing.
Moncler x Leica: Minimalist elegance
Special edition Leica x Moncler Sofort 2 is limited to just 100 pieces, meaning only a select few will be able to hold it in their hands. The camera is in snow white color – which makes it almost invisible in the Alpine landscape (literally), but at the same time sophisticated enough to make you want to put it in the most prominent place on your shelf.
Visually, it doesn't differ significantly from the standard white Sofort 2 model, but Moncler adds its signature: logo in the lower right corner, which nicely complements the Leica red dot in the upper left corner. At the top of the device, the inscription:
“MONCLER GRENOBLE COURCHEVEL 2025”, so that we don't accidentally forget how exclusive this release is.
This isn't the first Leica x Moncler collaboration – they last joined forces in 2014 with a special edition model Leica X, wrapped in blue-white-red leather. But this time it's something more subtle, but no less prestigious.
What's hidden inside?
Aesthetics aside (although that would be difficult), this Sofort 2 is the same as its standard sibling. This means:
- Sensor: 1.5-inch CMOS that captures 4.9-MP photos
- Resolution: 4.9MP
- Lens: Summar 1:2/2.4mm
- Storage: Up to 45 images (expandable with microSD)
- Battery: Enough to print 100 photos
- Movie: Fujifilm Instax Mini (renamed because Leica is Leica)
- Charging time: 2 to 3 hours
Don't expect professional DSLR-style photos, but if you want to capture moments in true retro spirit with a touch of modern technology, this is it.
Price? Not for sale!
And now the bad news: you can't buy this camera. Yes, you read that right. The Leica x Moncler Sofort 2 will be given away exclusively special guests fashion event on March 15th in Courchevel. So if you're not on the invite list yet, it'll probably be easier to buy a ski chalet in the Alps than get your hands on that camera.
But if you are more interested in functionality than exclusivity, you can go for a classic Leica Sofort 2 (without Moncler signature) order on Leica website for 399 dollarsWhich, to be honest, is still pretty affordable for a piece of technology with the Leica seal.

Conclusion: A camera for those who already have everything
Moncler and Leica have created something that is not just a camera – it is status symbolIf you could buy it, it would probably sell out in seconds. But while it remains out of reach for most mortals, it's nice to know that instant photography hasn't died out—it's just become a little more exclusive.
So if you see someone snapping pictures in Courchevel with this white beauty, you know: they're either the fashion elite, or they're really, really well-connected.
