Since January 21, our capital is richer for the library. But this is no ordinary library. We won't find books in the REČI Library, but we can borrow words that we otherwise can't afford.
Community home in Savské naselje in Ljubljana has been extremely lively since Wednesday, January 21, because that is where the first WORDS library with us, in which we can borrow a wide variety of things, from ice skates and boxing gloves to sewing machine or wedding dresses. For those of us who cannot afford anything during the crisis, this is an interesting, innovative and somewhat welcome concept.
The idea for it came last spring when the team freeFlower she wondered how she would bring joy to the Community Center in the Sava settlement. Along with the initiative Slovenia Coworking joined forces and, in cooperation with the local community of Savčani, opened the doors of the REČI Library in the desire for more happenings in one of the oldest settlements in Ljubljana. It was modeled after the Leila library in Berlin, which is considered the first lending library of its kind.
On the day of the opening, the first citizens already joined the library and received their booklet, with which they will be able to borrow useful items instead of books. »One of the main goals of the concept is to enable individuals to borrow items that they would otherwise have to buy, thereby saving time, money and space. All too often, we buy things that we only use occasionally, and then they lie in storage or cellars. Anyone who donates a word from the Wish List or pays a membership fee can become a member of the REČI Library," explains the team of the Knjižnica reči, who want the project to be an inspiration for new and similar stories in our country.
