Luminox, a renowned American brand known for its durable and reliable timepieces, has become synonymous with top quality in the outdoor world with previous collaborations with the likes of the US Navy SEALs, the Icelandic Search and Rescue Association and Bear Grylls. Now, the brand has raised the bar once again by including an automatic movement for the first time in the Pacific Diver series.

Although the automatic movement may seem like nothing special, this new addition to the Pacific Diver series puts Luminox alongside luxury watches such as the legendary Omega Seamaster. While quartz watches are more accurate, shock-resistant and require less maintenance, automatic movements more embody the spirit of a traditional wristwatch. Automatic watches have a long history, dating back to before the quartz watch boom of the 1970s, and although quartz watches are more affordable, the automatic movement is once again at the forefront of watch enthusiasts' minds today.

Basic features of the Pacific Diver Automatic 3100

The new series of automatic models includes three versions: XS.3101 (black dial), XS.3104 (blue dial) and XS.3101.H.SET (fully illuminated white dial). All three watches are powered by the Swiss automatic Sellita SW200-1 movement, which offers 38 hours of power reserve and is visible through the transparent case back. The watches feature 316L stainless steel cases with water resistance up to 200m, with the black and blue models having ceramic bezels, while the white model has a black bezel.

Compared to the previous Pacific Diver models, which were available in 44mm and 39mm sizes, the new automatic models have a case diameter of 42mm, which is the golden mean, although this will still be a bit large for some users. By comparison, the Omega Seamaster is also 42mm in diameter, which shows the similarity between the two models.

Features of the new models

The blue model has a stylish steel wristband, while the black and white models have a black rubber band. The black and white models are mirror opposites, as the black model has white hour markers with blue luminous luminescence, while the white model has black hour markers, but the entire dial glows in blue thanks to the Super-LumiNova coating. All three watches have tritium LLT tubes around the dial, which ensures long-lasting luminosity.
