Lumos is the world's first smart bike helmet that boasts brake lights, a front light and turn signals. Some time ago we wrote about the Brakepack backpack with similar functions, but now all this and more is packed into a helmet. And yes, the helmet saves lives, but probably no one wants to put its skills to the test. That's why Lumos is here, which provides additional safety for the cyclist in the dark or with poor visibility, but not only makes him more visible, but at the same time warns drivers of his actions and intentions.
Lumos applies to the first smart cycling helmet with interactive LEDs in the world. It meets all helmet safety standards and is despite technological addition water resistant. He's showing off with 60 LEDs. Some of them have the function of "headlights", others turn signals and still others brake lights. They are distributed almost over the entire helmet- front back and partially also on the side.
The brake lights on the helmet start flashing automatically when we reduce speed, thanks to the built-in three-axis accelerometer. Meanwhile, the turn signals are only activated via wireless remote control, which is attached to the handlebar. The front diodes are the most "passive" of the trio, as they "merely" light up, but they are strong enough to light the way. You activate the smart helmet like any other device by pressing start button, which is located in the shady part.

With battery capacity 1000 mAh you can cycle with it on a charge during normal use up to two and a half hours. This does not mean that it no longer protects you, only that the diodes weaken. But there's nothing like a little feeding via USB cable could not "fix". On Kickstarter you can pre-order the Lumos helmet for recalculated 90 euros, and you expect it at home once April 2016.
