Trek WaveCel: a revolutionary cycling helmet

A revolution is entering the world of bicycle helmets! Meet the Trek WaveCel helmet, which protects the head by mimicking the action of cerebrospinal fluid.

American manufacturer of bicycles and cycling equipment Trek, introduced a new a revolutionary cycling helmet, which mimics the action cerebrospinal fluid. The fluid between the skull and the brain protects the sensitive and soft brain from damage. But of course, this alone is not enough to protect the brain from severe blows. For the past 30 years, bicycle helmets have been made of processed 'styrofoam' that protects the head, but only when a direct hit. The problem arises when the initial kick others follow, and the head when falling turns. Featuring revolutionary WaveCel technology, the helmet features a tough outer layer of plastic and treated styrofoam and a WaveCel patterned insert honeycomb, which can absorb several forces simultaneously, too rotary. A helmet with WaveCel technology can be compared to a normal helmet 48 times cuts better in prevention concussions.

Research has shown that the bicycle helmet does its job well, but it could only be possible improve. Scientists have found that when a cyclist falls, the greatest danger is precisely the rotational force that acts on the brain when turning the head. Through experiments, they found that in 99 cases from 100, a helmet with WaveCel technology prevent the worst form of concussion. Protective layer MIPS (multi-directional impact protection system) or a multi-directional system for protection against the consequences of impacts, represents a thin layer of material, which allows the helmet to move back and forth, thereby mimicking the action of cerebrospinal fluid. WaveCel simply adds to the helmet 58 grams weight that it is negligible, compared to advantages, which enables them. Trek helmets are available from 130 euros further.
