The 1954 comedy contains one of the most famous scenes in film history, including one of the most famous photos of all time with the most famous image of Marilyn Monroe: the wind blowing from the bars and lifting Monroe's white dress. Monroe plays the girl who lives above a businessman who is left alone in Manhattan for the summer while his wife and son escape to Maine from the heat.
5. The Misfits (1961)
The play was written for Monroe by her husband at the time, Arthur Miller, and she was accompanied by her childhood hero Clark Gable, as well as the greats Montgomery Clift, Eli Wallach and Thelma Ritter. The film was directed by the legendary John Huston. Marilyn Monroe's character is an animal lover and recent divorcee who moves in with an older cowboy in Reno.
