The Maserati Biturbo Shamal is back, in a brand new guise! With over 500 horsepower and a price tag of over $600,000, this restomod revives classic 90s elegance with a modern technological twist. What does the iconic Italian athlete have to offer?

In a world where restomods of famous cars already competing in eccentricity, here comes a new contender to grab our attention: the revamped Maserati Biturbo Shamal. Under cover Modena Cars this iconic model from the 80s and 90s returns with modern upgrades that will satisfy even the most demanding fans of Italian sports.

This restomod, named Maserati Biturbo Shamal Restomod, retains its recognizable silhouette and some of its most distinctive elements. These include flared fenders and a unique windshield spoiler reminiscent of the original Shamal. Modena Automobili decided to radically renovate the front part with a lower mask, larger air slots and an added spoiler, which gives the vehicle an even more muscular and aggressive look.

A look that inspires nostalgia

At first glance, the Shamal restomod seems pretty faithful to its ancestor. Wide body, widened fenders and distinctive elements Gandini's design they resemble the original from the 90s. The novelty, however, brings even more futuristic details, such as LED headlights, combined with a modern engine cover decorated with a pair of air vents, dedicated to the legend. The rear also received a makeover: Modena Automobili kept the four exhaust pipes, and placed a diffuser in between, which further emphasizes the sporty character. The bodywork is mostly made of lightweight carbon with a touch of steel, which ensures better aerodynamics and driving characteristics.

Power under the hood – 500 horsepower

For all those whose hearts beat faster at the thought of sporting performance, there is essential information under the engine hood. The Maserati Biturbo Shamal Restomod uses an engine from new Maserati Ghibli, a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 that has been upgraded to produce as much as 500 horsepower (373 kW). Power is sent to the rear wheels via an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission, meaning you can expect both explosive acceleration and smooth shifting. The car has additionally installed powerful Brembo brakes, capable of handling this unbridled power, and the brake discs measure 34 cm (13.5 inches) in front and 33 cm (13.0 inches) in the rear.

Driving characteristics and upgrades

The chassis remains faithful to the classic Biturbo, but with improvements in suspension and shock absorbers. They also added a new rear axle and 18-inch wheels, which further contribute to the optimal stability and control of the vehicle. With this combination of a revised chassis, improved components and powertrain, the Maserati Biturbo Shamal Restomod offers the perfect balance between retro driving feel and modern dynamics.

Interior: A connection between the past and the future

Although pictures of the interior are not yet available, Modena Automobili boasted a number of new features. The digital display, which will retain the oval design of the original meter, and the new Recaro seats promise luxury that flirts with classic Italian style. But there is also a minor problem here - Recaro filed for bankruptcy this year, so the question remains whether these seats will actually see production. Nevertheless, Modena Automobili ensures that the interior will remain true to the brand's heritage, but with all the comforts and technologies of the 21st century.

Price and exclusivity

Modena Automobili plans to produce only 33 specimens of this unique vehicle, which further emphasizes its rarity and prestige. Each model will be "highly customizable" according to the customer's wishes, which will probably further increase the initial price, which amounts to approx. 638,000 dollars (approx. 605,000 euros). The first examples are expected to be ready by spring 2025, giving Maserati collectors and enthusiasts plenty of time to prepare their bank accounts.
