An electric SUV that thinks for you

What do we get when Mazda and China's Changan team up to develop an electric SUV for the future? Hint: it's not just another generic "battery box." The EZ-60 is here to take on Tesla, the Koreans, and even—dare I say it—the Europeans.

Mazda The CX-6e is more than just another electric novelty. Based on the EPA1 platform, developed in collaboration with Changan, Mazda proves that it can combine driving dynamics, innovative solutions and bold design. The CX-6e is not a trend follower - it is a trend setter.

Drive choices: Freedom without compromise

The CX-6e offers two powertrain options because Mazda knows that freedom of choice is key when it comes to electric power:

  • BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle):
190 kW (258 hp) on the rear axle, 79.97 kWh NMC battery, range up to 600 km (CLTC). When the competition is already looking for a charging station, the CX-6e still crosses half of Europe without stress.
  • EREV (Extended-Range Electric Vehicle):
Also 190 kW, with a smaller (31.73 kWh) LFP battery and a 1.5-liter gasoline engine that serves exclusively as a generator. Up to 160 km on electricity alone, with a combined range of over 1,000 km. For everyone who doesn't like to think about where the next socket is.

Design: Kodo in the Digital Age

The CX-6e remains true to Mazda's Kodo philosophy – sensual lines, a confident grille, digital mirrors and details that give the impression of prestige and movement even before you set off. Aerodynamic solutions such as special air ducts and D-pillars reduce air resistance and extend the range by an additional 41 km. Stability? 705 N of downforce at highway speeds – the CX-6e is an electric TGV on four wheels.

Digital Interiors: When Technology Becomes Sensual

The Mazda CX-6e is a digital breakthrough in the truest sense of the word:

  • 26.45-inch 5K display: infotainment and entertainment in one, where the passenger will never say they are bored again.
  • 100-inch 3D AR HUD: key information where you need it – right in front of your eyes.
  • Dolby Atmos, 23 speakers (even in pillows!): if you're already driving in silence, at least let Beethoven move you to tears.
  • Control everything with touch, voice or gestures – the CX-6e listens to you, even when your pet cat is gone.

Dimensions and safety: Space, peace and confidence

  • Length: 4,850mm
  • Width: 1,935 mm
  • Height: 1,620mm
  • Spacing: 2,902 mm
  • Trunk: 350 L (up to 2,036 L with the seats folded); the BEV has an additional 126 L of “trunk”.

Constructed from 86.5 % high-strength steel, nine airbags and ADAS Level 2 (five radars, five cameras, 12 sensors) means the CX-6e will protect you before you even notice danger. Automatic braking up to 80 km/h? Of course, because it's not every day that someone jumps in front of your car.

Market Response: When Digital Conquers the World

At a time when every other electric SUV is just a copy-paste, the CX-6e is a real treat. More than 10,000 pre-orders in 48 hours and 30,000 in two months prove that the Mazda CX-6e is an electric hit before it even leaves the showroom. In China from ¥119,900 (about $16,800). Europe is in for a price revolution. After all, the car could be on the magic line of under 35,000 euros or less. Certainly less than the existing model Mazda 6e, which hit EU roads a few months ago.

Conclusion: a serious attack on the SUV segment in the EU

The Mazda CX-6e proves that electric doesn’t have to be boring or just about “being green.” It’s a car that combines Mazda’s driving spirit, a digital future, and everyday practicality. If you’re looking for an electric SUV that’s more than just another number in an Excel spreadsheet, you’ve found it.

The CX-6e may not change the world, but it will definitely change the way you look at electric mobility. And if Mazda adds the ability to play “Space Invaders” to the HUD in the next update, then we really don’t need anything else.
