Mazda RX-VISION: the return of the Rotarian

Mazda RX-VISION

Mazda RX-VISION is Mazda's vision of the future, which will probably grow into a serial model in a few years. It is the next generation of sportsman, which will be driven by a rotary engine. The Japanese will present the study to the interested public at the Tokyo Motor Show 2015, and they have already given car fans quite a few bones to chew on. One of these is certainly the engine, and the announcement of a new generation of the brand's vehicles with the RX designation also stirs the imagination.

Mazda RX-VISION is Mazda's toxic tearjerker vision with a rotary engine. The brand introduced this back in 1967 with the model Mazda Cosmo Sport 110S, the biggest star and best-selling rotary engine car in the world was a legendary model Mazda RX-7. Some of the biggest optimists in the RX-VISION concept already see its successor, but Mazda's passions are calm and (for now) they insist that it is only a concept. It is typical for a rotary engine that it gains driving power through the circular motion of the triangular rotors, and not as we are used to, i.e. with alternating movement of the pistons.

For the RX-VISION, Mazda engineers have prepared a new generation rotary engine Skyactiv-R (this type of engine was never part of serial production, but they never really stopped devoting themselves to this technology), with which they challenge established patterns. 1.6 liter unit, who can 300 hp respectively 220 kW (only reviews of enthusiasts), they were installed in the front, and the drive was sent to the rear pair of wheels. They are fitted with 20-inch rims, front and rear. While outside the car follows Mazda's KODO design language, is an interior combination retro and modern. The spirit of the past radiates from the steering wheel, the dwarf gear lever, the analogue gauges and the classic handbrake.
